Oh my....you are so good for my ego. I do have a lot of spirit but I would not say I'm more fit than Kristina! She's da bomb! There is not an ounce of fat or giggle on that bod!:bow: But I'm working on more "giggle" in practice! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: Conversation between me and a young age group coach during a masters practice @ Dynamo: Goal of set - 300 pull and work on good body roll/ hip rotation (S)he-Man: Coach Gary, I'm really trying to work on my body roll and great hip rotation like you said. But when I do that, it feels like by butt is wiggling all over the place, especially with this stupid thing (hold up moldy buoy) between my legs. Is that right?! Coach Gary (in all seriousness): Don't worry. I'll take a really close look. Had my lane mates cracking up during the entire 300 swim. Cord Patrick said he couldn't concentrate. Oh. . . the swimming humor.

Prom Dress. Lip gloss seems to lessen the snarl. :wiggle: Yes but you need to hit a "rear double biceps" pose ...and that's not me either, but how funny would that look in those speedos!!!

How tall are you? I am super short for a sprinter, but that's what I am so oh well ... we actually have several short swimmers in IL that are crazy fast. I'm 5'4", so I got 2 whole inches on you. There seem to be a lot of crazy fast IL people on this forum. In my age group over here, I don't know too many crazy fast short sprinters. My secret nemesis in free/fly/IM is 6'1" or so. The person whupping me in the 50 SCM back is about 6' too. SwimmieAvsFan is 5'11," but fortunately, she's two decades younger than me. Whatcha gonna do when you've got fast twitch muscles?

This is quite weird. I was a gymnast long ago too. Flexible is great for fly until you become too "loosey goosey" like Beth and me. Heather, I'm feeling really tall now that I've read you're 5'2." I think I read someone else on this forum was a gymnast too. Was it Chlorini? How tall are you? I was nicknamed She-Ra when I did gymnastics ... I love my fullbody suit (well the bodyskin - No arms) but I also have a severe lack of breaststroke in my life, and I for one am very happy about that. Beth and Kristina, I'm very sorry to hear about your teammate, how scary and sad. That is very difficult. I too did gymnastics! I stopped when I was afraid of breaking my neck on the tricks (and I was getting too tall). So, it was a nice transition over to swimming. It was good to find a sport where I didn't have to worry about seriously injuring myself. Did you find that your flexibility from gymnastics helped you in swimming? Thank you for thinking of Bob and our team. It's a small team in that everyone knows everyone and most swimmers are "regulars." In speaking with Bob's sister, I learned that he did have a previous heart attack and that 90% of his arteries were blocked. Not that this makes it any better. . . but it was amazing how fast he was even under those conditions. I will most miss his witty comments between sets.

Thanks Fortress. She is doing well. She has had 3 caths with angioplasty and stents in the past year and a half! I count every day with her as a blessing and I just pray that we can stay a step ahead of her heart problems. It was pretty scary last week when one of my teammates died suddenly of a heart attack at practice last week. It really puts life in perspective and makes you realize how precious life really is. Our names being almost the same was totally coincidental! Isn't that wild! Kristina.....are you sure we aren't sisters seperated at birth? :agree: I could only hope to be so lucky as to be your sister Beth! I know - Beth, I never apologized for choosing a user name so close to yours! I just sort of joined recently and then started looking at this board and saw that someone else had a user name almost like mine. And then I learned that it was you! BUT - I am working on changing my user name to either (S)he-Man or GoodTimes. I need to check and see if either of those are taken. Hey! But we are linked by old Dekalb County Records, right? Didn't you hold the 50 fly record which was broken by Nanette Vallicillo (whom you taught fly to) and then I broke Nanette's record. Now that's sisterhood! And then, you got me back by kicking my butt in the 100 free!

Kristina, I'm right there with you....I haven't been able to swim much lately either. My mother had to have a cardiac cath and angioplasty Monday. Thank God she is doing well and came home yesterday afternoon. I've had a stomach virus for the last week....fun. I've also been pretty upset about Bob. His death kind of puts life in perspective doesn't it? I'm entered in the meet this weekend....not sure what i'm going to do. I might just go and swim the 50 and 100 free and maybe 100 IM and some fun relays. I'm not expecting PB's....I just want to have fun. If I get a PB that will be icing on the cake. Beth, I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, but I'm pleased that she's doing well. Please know that she and you are both in my prayers. If you're going to the meet, I'll be sure to attend as well and we'll keep eachother strong! You know how I mumble, "Think positive" during the practices! We can shout it from the rooftops at the meet. And how can I forget our singing during one of Kim's killer sets, Hurts so good! Sometimes my stroke don't feel like it should! Hurts so good! Bob's death was a devastating blow for me as well. Yes, it was frightening, scary, sad, to see this seemingly healthy, fit man collapse during practice.:confused: I was glad to attend his rememberance and speak with some of his family members and reminisce about his youth. Did you know that both his parents were swim coaches? It does make me rethink priorities in life. Swimming while sick - piece of cake and happy to be swimming at all. Makes me think of one of the Navy Seals sayings - something to the effect of, "Be happy to feel the pain. Pain is your friend. It means you are alive." How is it that I learn more with each passing year but know less and less at the same time? :agree: Take care of yourself Beth and I hope to see you at a practice or at least come this weekend. Did you know that you were the one swimmer who inspired me to start racing the men? I saw how you whooped their butts - you showed me how it was done - and you still do! :notworthy:

Although according to Beth, you probably don't need it. :) How about a picture of you juming out of the water with a hand raised in the air, celebrating your first victory with the new FSII suit? Now that would make a worthy avatar! Thank you scyfreestyler! That would be a very positive message! And if I don't do well (as I'm horribly sick this week), I'll simply change the pic to snarling while flexing my bicep.

Kristina! You are so petite and tiny that there is no way you could look like a he-man. The way you have been swimming in our workouts.....now that on the other hand SHOULD scare the competition! I can't wait to see what you do this weekend! You are going to do great! Your (sometimes) workout buddy!:wave: Beth You are way too kind Beth! Thanks for the positive thoughts! I got a sinus infection Sunday/ Monday that is HORRIBLE so I'm missing some practices this week. Don't you love the timing of these things? I'm thinking my symptoms should be okay by this weekend, but it's going to be a tough meet as my energy is zapped. But, if Natalie Coughlin can swim worlds AND face the nasty press, "How does it feel to dishonor your country?," I figure I can at least show up and do my best - good times or not. :)

I think I read someone else on this forum was a gymnast too. Was it Chlorini? I'm not sure if I had posted this before, but I'm a former gymnast - only made it to level 4, though. I've always been a backstroker, but recently started getting the endurance to be a good flyer. My sister was also a gymnast and is a back/flyer. My brother, however, was a gymnast and was a great backstroker but still can't do fly or *** legally, even though he is very flexible.
