I came back from the weight room to find the contents of my locked locker all over the floor, along with a bunch of other people&#39;s stuff. My wallet was gone, but appeared a few days later in the trash of a downtown office building, from which a security guard called me.
When I described some possible suspects to an investigating officer over the phone - a group of teenage girls walking around the running track in street shoes and clothes, looking around them at everything - she started giving me a long-winded lecture about not judging by appearance and age. As if I didn&#39;t practically live in the place and recognize most of the track club kids. Now I leave my clothes, usually old ones, in an unlocked locker and take anything valuable onto the pool deck with me in my swim bag. It&#39;s black, so things like my black nylon wallet just disappear in it.
As for sunglasses, I like Ryders. Good quality, and not so expensive that I feel devastated when I leave them behind somewhere, as I&#39;m unfortunately prone to doing.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Friggin' thieves at the pool...

Darth:

I&#39;ve had about 5 pairs in the past ten years. They also have a great warranty and will fix/repair/replace any part of the glasses for a year for free. Buy one pair and you are hooked for life, worth every penny.

People who steal things live with the self-knowledge they are theives, which is inevitably detrimental to their self-esteem. Stealing also reflects an attitude that it is not possible to be successful and prosperous honestly. It reflects and reinforces a feeling that the world is an unfriendly, hostile place that does not provide for us. That&#39;s the karma right there--it resides right in the thiefs mind and can&#39;t be avoided.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Friggin' thieves at the pool...

Not me. FYI - Oakleys come with a full 1 year warranty and will repair or replace for free. After that, they will repair or replace for less than $30. I suggest you call their 800 number and see about getting them fixed.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Friggin' thieves at the pool...

No, you ride shotgun while Geek mans the wheel (wait that&#39;s an oxymoron) in his wifebeater.

However, Oakleys and Ray-Bans have always been kinda cheesy to me. They always remind me of some dude wearing a tank top while driving a jeep without doors with a pit bull in the passenger seat. The same dude who likes to ogle the ladies at the stoplight while playing the radio just a little too loud. It was - but my husband and I cracked up laughing about it. We were both like, &quot; What a piece of junk.&quot; Maybe it was a fluke. Maybe I was to blame. I have been known to break things easily. ;) In all fairness, I did eventually leave the &quot;cheapie&quot;&#39; sunglasses and splurged on RX polarized sunglasses. Now, I can&#39;t wear anything else. Yes, a timely thread. Today I witnessed a shoplifting at Target. They didn&#39;t even know they had been ripped off of a Dyson vacuum. The police were tracking down the car, which I had the license plate of, now :)

I had my shoes stolen off the pool deck once. They were brand new, Speedo sport type shoes. The coach was standing about 5 feet from them and never saw a thing. It was one of the kids since they were putting ther gear down near my bag/shoes (this was in OR, not the kids I swim with now). It was a cold night walking to my car with no shoes on.
