...did anyone who watched American Idol last night notice David Hasselhoff in the audience toward the end of the show, with tears in his eyes, looking strangely like Sophia Loren?

That was great! I tried to do the same thing on the Food Network. We don't get the chance to plug Masters swimming on TV too often, so I'm glad we both took advantage of our opportunities.

My favorite part of your show was when Alex Trebek asked you if you had kids...

Not too bad for an hour's work. A good friend of mine was a five time champ back in the early '90s. He did well enough that he was invited to be on the Ultimate Tournament of Champions thing they did last year. He did really well there, too, making it to the quarter finals and winning somewhere around $70K all told.

If I ever make it on I'll do my best to give a plug for Masters swimming :)

Yep, I made enough to pay for my plane ticket, hotel room, and wardrobe (Jeopardy does not pay contestants' expenses!), and after taxes had a little left over (had to pay taxes on the trip too). Of course, it wasn't about the money. I just wanted to prove to myself I could do it, and try not to make a fool of myself on national TV. That is scary... Did anyone see him at the Suns Mavs game the other night. Supposedly Dirk Nowitzky (sp?) sings one of his songs while shooting free throws. Thanks Kirk! Yep, it was a few years ago. It was in 2000. It was a lot of fun, but also the most terrifying experience of my life. My knees literally knocked together the whole time I was playing.

Aw Bill, you're so sweet! Of course, the whole story with that dress is that the first thing my friends in the locker room said when they heard I was going to be on the show was "You're not going to wear your regular clothes, are you?" So my teammates Tita and Kregor took me shopping, and Kregor actually picked that dress out. She had so many wardrobe 'mishaps' (none as exciting as Jackson's), trying to squeeeeeze into those oufits, I understand she tore quite of few of them.
