So what is the most economical way to purchase one? Ebay? Some discount online store? Any ideas?

And where does the torso begin and end, so I can measure mine, because on the size chart it has measurments for that.

RE: Fastskin suits

On the size issue.....
I have the tag from the Fastskin that I just bought. The tag says that the long sizes are designed for long torso people. The oddity is that I bought a men's long and I don't have a long torso- I'm mostly legs. I did try on several pairs before I settled on that size.

Have you had an aquablade? I ask because there is a size equivalent between the aquablade and a fastskin......It might help. :)

RE: Fastskin suits

Thanks for the tip. I found the fastskin I "bodyskins" on sale for $90. And I was thinking the same thing about holding back the flab. Definitely the best price I found.

I couldn't find a place to try them on so I took a chance and got the XL-Long size. Hopefully it fits right.

Kevin

yeah I saw the fsI body skin for $90 also, im seriously thinking about getting it but, I dont know what size to get.

Whats the difference between a medium and a medium-long?

RE: Fastskin suits

Try speedo.com. They've had FSI's at a significant discount for almost a year now. I've gotten several shortleg farmer johns for $75 apiece. Though the young whippersnappers seem to like the jammers for breaststroke, the USMS athlete's mature body configuration (okay, beergut) may benefit from the farmer john style.

The hard part is trying to figure out the sizing. I'm 6'2" 200 #'s with about a 33" waist. Would the L-Long be the right size?

It depends on how tight you want it to fit. I'm 5'11, 150lbs and wear an L-Long (FS II). Fits like a glove (but not uncomfortable).

RE: Fastskin suits

I actually did a search on Fastskins here and found a thread that suggested to check the sale page on the Speedo website. Glad I did, turns out they have the high neck bodyskins (fastskin I) for $90. Seems like the best deal out there.

Even without it, there shouldn't be a problem for shorter races. If you're swimming a mile or more, I recommend the bodyglide though. We've had some nice battle wounds on our team from people using the suits for the hour swim without any bodyglide.

RE: Fastskin suits

You can try your local swim shop... sometimes they have random fast suits on sale that are either the last generation, a discontinued style, or returns (due to wrong color, size, etc).

We have a Kiefer shop around here and maybe 3-4 years ago I picked up a Speedo Aquablade (female zipback) for $20.

It helps if you're not picky about color and make sure you try the suit on. The fastskin type suits sometimes fit differently than your normal suits.

Good luck!

RE: Fastskin suits

The first generation fastskins are on sale on most websites..try at bigger meets...I got a leg suit with a zipper back for 90 at nationals last week....

RE: Fastskin suits

Got a Fastskin II Jammer for $130 in February, seems to help somewhat, whether it be psychological of physical. I wore it for Nationals and Zones - rinsed each day and air dry flat- great shape. I was a 36 - 34 when I bought the 34" suit, now I'm a 32. Interested in it?
