Does anyone have any suggestions on places to swim? I know the Belmont Plaza pool is pretty close and appears to have lap swim times in the a.m. Has anyone used this pool

RE: Swimming in/near Long Beach

There's an active group in Long Beach called the Long Beach Grunions. They were the ones who hosted the SCM zones recently. LBG is primarily a gay/gay friendly group, but they don't seem to be heterophobic. Here's their web address:

Growing up in so cal that is where many championship meets were held. In fact, our master SCM regional meet is also held there every year and is hosted by the Long Beach Grunions. Not sure if they practice there though.

As far as drop in swimmers, I know the teams in Irvine Accept drop ins, Nova and UCI. Then further south is Mission Viejo Nadadores. That is where I swim and I know we welcome drop ins. But that is a bit far from Long Beach, however, we do have a lot of practice times (morning, afternoon and evening).

All the clubs mentioned have websites and the coaches for each club seem to be very responsive to emails. I'm sure you'll find something.
