Swimming Your Age: Two summers ago, I was the only person at an ocean swim in Emerald Isle, NC to swim the two miles in my age in minutes: 59 Sure there are a lot more out there that could better that, but I was pleased with my first open water swim in about 20 years.

Rob, your 19 year old swims a fast 100! I don't think he needs a "swim golf" comparison to validate his performance.

As a college student and a not especially fast swimmer, I can't even swim close to my age in the 50 free! For me, a more realistic goal would be swimming my age (in minutes) in the 1650/1500 free. I'm really a sprinter (mostly 50's and a few 100's), so I'm still a few minutes off.

Tiger Woods can't golf his age very often for 9 holes either. That is my point. When is it realistic SC or LC and is this a compelling goal like golfing your age?

Just with a quick look at the National records and then searching individual results here's a stab at the earliest "swimming of one's age in the 100 free (scy)" Men: Jack Groselle 47.87 at age 47 (2002) Women: Laura Val 54.81 at age 54 (just a couple days ago) If you use long course obviously that ups the age some. Interestingly, it doesn't look like a U.S. woman has ever swam her age for the LC 100 free. Sounds like a goal for someone to shoot for!

I feel the same way being 36. But I don't know many golfers under 60 who are ever close to golfing their age. That seems to be a legitimate goal at 65+. I am more wondering what is the legitimate age to do it in swimming?

How about we make it for the 50 instead? I can be under 31 all day long. Yeah, I think I like that much better.

I can swim a 50 *** = my age!:D
