Since I posted this on the poll thread about icecream vs beer, I will post it here as well. Has anyone tried Ben and Jerry's Pistachi Pistachio icecream yet? I highly recommend it to anyone who likes pistachios and icecream.....very yummy stuff IMO!! Newmastersswimmer

Ah Brian, how does a guy in CA know about Guvnahs ( very good pronunciation by the way or Barstan's) Gov's does have the cookie monster 2 huge chocolate chip cookies with ice cream in between and then dipped in chocolate, and I have split their Federal Deficit Mega Sundae on a few occasions ( which is the equivalent of 6 sundaes with all the toppings...),but my chowder days were at Pats Pizza. Cheap pizza - cheap beer, I dont think it mattered what type of beer it was and it long before micro breweries, it was more about how much did a pitcher of it cost - But our family is headed to Ireland this summer, so I think I will need to switch my focus to sampling beers in small pubs. An expatriate Black Bear ;)

Depending where the meet takes place in Mexico I would have different beers: Corona, Victoria, Negra Modelo, León, Pacífico, Tecate, Montejo, Bohemia, Lager, Noche Buena (available only in December). originally posterd by Alex While I was in Ajijic over Christmas break (near Guadalajara) I enjoyed a lot of Estrella Cervesa. I liked it as much as Corona, Negro Modelo, or Dos Equis in fact. I noticed that you didn't mention either Estrella or Dos Equis in your posting Alex? My dad said that Estrella is considered to be a relatively cheap beer in Mexico (and I believe it may be made by Corona?)...but none-the-less, I really liked it anyway....What is your opinion, Alex, on both Estrella and Dos Equis?...(just curious). I have recently discovered a new beer I like called "Blue Moon"....its a wheat beer made in the Belgian wheat style (or so it says on the bottle).....another good beer I've recently discovered is called something like "Dead Rogue Guy"...its an Amber Ale.....and it has a picture of a skeleton on the bottle...I think it's a microbrew from the Pacific Northwest somewhere (like Portland perhaps?). I also like Guiness a lot too.....I will have to try the Guiness Ice cream float someone mentioned on this thread....that sounds pretty good to me. Ben and Jerry's makes pretty good ice cream IMO....Cherry Garcia is a favorite of mine....just like the real Jerry Garcia....very smooth and very refreshing!.....I can't imagine that the Canadians have a better ice cream product than B & J's??....Sorry Peter....but you are always looking through your maple leaf colored glasses I'm afraid...LOL!! Peter, :) LOL. Here in the Dacks, we enjoy our own Saranac Beer, Adirondack Amber. However, perhaps to your dismay, I am more fond of Quebecoise Biers, such as LaDiable or Fin De Monde. What I keep stocked in the fridge, is Molson Export. 'Yankee' swill is for exactly how the jingle goes "Schaffer is the one beer to have, when your having more than one". How many other LMSCs have a beer in their name?

I like just about all the Rogue beers, but they tend to be a little expensive. We have many great micros out here that are just as good and usually cheaper so I tend to not buy Rogue beers too much. Not a fan of Mexican beers in general, but Negra Modelo is good on occasion. I like Noche Buena, too, but haven't had it in years. In general I find Corona undrinkable. Those clear bottles make it skunk way too easily. I think some people assume it's supposed to taste like that, hence the lime.

Rogue is from Newport, Oregon on the Oregon coast. The beer you mentioned is called Dead Guy. Rogue has many fine beers. Rogue does have a brewpub in Issaquah, WA so anyone coming to short course Nationals next year can stop by and sample a few of their fine products :)

First Congrats to Dobbie on the Cascading chowder, I havent seen someone do that since my college days at the Univeristy of Maine at Orono, 1981 which was probably the last time I did one. no one ever believes me when I describe it so I am down loading the picture. Ice Cream over beer any day. Anything with chocolate, cherries or coconut. And if it is a really hard work out/or successful meet- all three in some fashion!:D

I almost always drink beer after swimming. Ice cream not as much, but still a fair amount. Beer is the perfect carbohydrate delivery system in my opinion.

Joe- you are as fast at jumping to an erroneous conclusion as you are fast in the pool. I am on record (ad nauseum to most) as being an enthusiastic proponent of beer, just as long as it is not that wussified, lower-than-swill yankee beer that you undoubtably guzzle after scorching the pool.

I goofed. Ben & Jerry's cookbook had a (dark) beer sorbet: 1.5 bottles of (flat) dark beer, 5 tbsp of sugar, into an ice cream maker.

After swimming, it's eating - and about anything too. I began swimming in the 1960's when I was 8 years old and I remember it always gave me an appetite. On the way home from the pool, I had my parents stop by the fast food place for a cheeseburger. Happy Swimming! Dolphin 2 :D

Must be double-good Craig. Now, ice cream. The best ice cream in the world and far and away the best milkshakes in the world are from an old-fashioned dairy creamery just east of Sicamous B.C., off the Trans-Canada Highway. Were their product available at meets I would enter 200brst, 200fly, 400im without fear, knowing that I would have their ambrosial delights waiting for me.

Since my colectomy, I can't drink beer. And as for ice cream, now I can eat it but it has to be very expensive and made from creme enghlais-not cheap soft serve. the best ice cream is ciao bella from New York. It is so much better than any other brand I've ever had!
