Better yet, you can get your wife to apply it FOR you.

RE: Itchy Itchy Itchy!!!

Yeh ..I have noticed this for years.

A hot shower always works for me.

If I go to bed without a shower I get hot and sweaty from the chlorine.
I vaguely remeber reading that the chlorine prevents the skin from breathing...can't remember exactly how.

I can sometimes smell chlorine when showering even if I haven't showered for 24hrs.

RE: Itchy Itchy Itchy!!!

I love the feel of chlorine on the body, I don't even want to shower after a swim, I like to dabble pool water under my arms it is my favorite deodrizer.

I went to the dermatologist for a year off an on, and they gave me a cortisone cream that really helps. You can get a milder version over the counter at the drugstore that also works well. They also recommended taking benydryl in the pill form to calm the itching down. I would itch so badly within two hours even with Curel unscented lotion, that I could hardly concentrate at work. . . so I can really relate! I have heard that the suntan lotions (cocoa butter like someone mentioned earlier) fill your pores before getting in the water, but I have never tried it personally. I did try the "liquid bandaid" creams, which are supposed to "seal the pores" and they only worked slightly if I put it on 30 minutes prior and wasn't in the water more than 30 minutes. I eventually ruled out swimming in the bromine except to teach swim lessons and then only when I can't get someone else to demonstrate or assist. If you have the choice, you might try swimming in a bromine pool since chlorine is bothering you, just the reverse of my problem. Usually swimmers are only bothered by one or the other.

Good luck! This would also occur mostly in areas being stretched or being pressed on, also areas at edges of clothes, sleeve ends, waist, etc. This has first happenned to me this past summer. If so, you would need to see a dermatologist. There's a prescription cream (containing vaseline & cortisone) that seems to work pretty well if you can stand the mess.

RE: Itchy Itchy Itchy!!!

also, use dermaskinpro before you swim. I had one of those "I can't sleep because I'm so itchy" things going on last night and I put one (pink and marshmallow scented :) in the tub. Slept like a baby. (Not in the tub, of course. :)

They might have some with slightly less girly scents too.

I also think you probably need to shower not just rinse after swimming, and I agree on the 'lots of lotion' ideas.
