Seems like cats like strange and strong smells that humans don't always find appealing. One of our cats loves to sleep in our son's hockey bag, nestled in the pads/gloves/socks. This hockey bag and the gear it contains is so disgustingly smelly that it is not allowed in the house - it's banished to the garage.

After I swim I shave my whiskers. My dog used to go crazy and wanted to get close to my face as I used after shave lotion a smell she liked. So to keep her down I would put a couple of drops on a paper towel, she would roll on that for hours.

This is out of place but my dog HATES the smell of chlorine,I have to hide my swim bag and gear before I leave and when I return. Then again it might be he is left ALONE, not the chlorine. Sorry I had to reply for all the dog owners.

Those cats? do they cuddle up only after you swim? They don't cuddle up to you if you have not been swimming then they are chlorine addicats.

My cats, named Lance and Picabo, have chewed 3 pairs of Vanquisher goggles, 2 caps, and they have ripped 2 very old Speedos. I now keep all my swimming gear far away. They do like to sniff my bicycle and snow skis! However, they love to cuddle up to me when I return from evening swim practice.

These are just the most hilarious things I have ever heard but cute too. My cats hate strong smells like bleach & other cleaner types. My one cat is big into feet, anti-social weirdo & the other likes licking my hands after I put lotion on. Kinda strange.

I just got two kittens. I have had them for almost two months. They love my swim bag, towels, suits, and goggles. If I don't put stuff up so they can't reach it I come home to it being in the bed or hallway. They also love to jump in the shower with me. I love having cats that are swim fans!

I noticed that with a couple of cats I have owned. I always clean with bleach and when I do the cats flip out and rub all over everything. We put them up when we clean, but they still go nuts over your hands. Hook'em Blue

I had two kitties who both loved bleach and wet with pool water bathing suits too. My cats love cat nip and would chew the sock with it in it until it split open, then they would roll in it until they couldn't walk and were drooling... so cats like getting high. Evidently the bleach, pool water or cat nip didn't hurt them because one lived to be 15 and the other 17. Okay, you pool manager types out there help me out here. Chlorine GAS takes the place of oxygen in the blood. Less oxygen, more of a buzz/rush/high? Could that be why cats like bleach and stuff soaked with pool water? But does liquid bleach and chlorinated pool water work the same way in cats as chlorine gas does?

My cat loves the smell of chlorine as well. She goes to town on me, licking my hands and feet when I come home to greet her. She also sniffs my bag. I wonder why they like the smell.

I'm a cat lover and so enjoyed this post! I can't say my cat goes crazy over chlorine, but when I returned from a beach trip, she sniffed my sandals all over, looked at me very quizzically, sniffed some more, sniffed my feet, then went on her way. Maybe it was something my sandals touched, but nothing remarkable to my sense of smell--altho. come to think of it, at the house where I stayed, there was a neighbor's cat that would come and hang around on the deck.

After my Saturday morning workout I usually get home about 8:00AM and slip back into bed with my wife. Miss Muffin would come up on the bed (if she wasn't there already) and nudge her nose in my still wet and chloriney beard. She just loved it. Our new kitten, Kitty Gidley, 4 months old, loves water! She doesn't mind being bathed and just last week we took her in the back yard pool. I held her and slowly walked into the water. She was as mellow as can be. Let her go and she swam the *** paddle to the side and jumped out. My wife thinks she is a Turkish Van cat who apparently love the water. No plans to enter the Alcatraz swim yet.;) Glenn

My cats love to chew my goggle straps and will absolutely destroy my pull bouy if I leave by swim bag unzipped. In addition, after I swim, when I sit down for dinner, they'll come in under the table and start licking my legs. That's usually when they get a quick boot to stay away! (yes, its a gentle boot).
