I've been to one of the Total Immersion-type clinics, but am looking for something a little more geared towards training and racing.

RE: Master's Swim Camp

Knelson,
Thanks for the info. I'll look into it next summer. I was planning a trip to El cajon to visit my sister & thought that since I'd be there while she is working a day camp would be a great way to spend some time.

RE: Master's Swim Camp

Kerry O'Brien (Walnut Creek Masters) has one at the beginning of every March. It's limited to the first 50 who sign up. It's 3 days (Fri night, Sat, Sun) in Walnut Creek, CA. The cost is about $150. It's really worthwhile, even though I swim with Kerry all the time. There are several other coaches, dryland, videotaping, etc. I highly recommend it :)

RE: Master's Swim Camp

I tried for about three months to get info from the masters camp at Sn diego state last year and never got any reply. I even had my sister who lives in SD call & she left a message & nothing.

Actually it's USD, not SDSU.

Coach Keeler was an assistant coach for my team back when I was in college. Can't vouch for his camp, but he's a nice guy!

RE: Master's Swim Camp

We just hosted a 3-day one, 4 days before you posted the question.
Are you anywhere near California?

RE: Master's Swim Camp

Steen is the head coach of Kenyon College and Stager is a master's swimmer and head of human performance at Indiana U. My kids went to Steen's Total Performance camp. He's an amazing guy and they got A LOT out of it. I'm guessing anything they do will be first-rate.

You can visit at www.mastersswimcamp.com. Also looks like they've got Dave Tanner too. He wrote Swimming Past 50 w/Mel Goldstein.

Also heard San Diego State has something too.
