I&#39;m trying to figure out where can I go to get some coaching?

I recently started picking up swimming again and haven&#39;t had any formal coaching...just from

RE: Where to Start

Hi Oci, Hi Manticora :)

If you check out &quot;Places to Swim&quot; on the left side of the USMS.org main page you can search the South Pacific Zone, there are lots of clubs here in the OC. I am likely to join up at UCI because the evening workout times are good for me (6:00-7:30 PM) and it&#39;s fairly convenient geographically.

From what I&#39;ve seen of workout times from the various clubs, your biggest problem might be your after 7 PM workout time requirement. Any possibility you&#39;d be able to hit morning workouts? Many of the clubs, including UCI, have them.

Personally, right now I&#39;m swimming at LA Fitness and drilling with TI&#39;s &quot;Four Strokes Made Easy&quot; video - it&#39;s been a huge help to me. Although I did swim competitively years ago, the drills and concepts have really cut down on my stroke count. I&#39;ve also ordered the book &quot;Fitness Swimming&quot; by Emmet Hines, judging from posts I&#39;ve read and book reviews, a lot of people like the drill method better than TI, so I&#39;m going to give it a shot.

If you can&#39;t find a club with training times that fit your schedule, you can still join USMS and compete as an unattached swimmer, or join a club to compete on their team even if you can&#39;t make many workouts. I generally swim around 8:00 PM or so - I might not mind a training partner if you&#39;re inclined.

Cheers!<div style="clear:both;"></div>
