Both here on this board and also at my home, office, etc. Is it my imagination, or is there more interest in swimming from the general public (aka

RE: Olympic Swimming Excitement

I am not in Athens but I am a clown.

RE: Olympic Swimming Excitement

Aquageek, just show up in your clown suit--that should clear the pool. Or it may start a trend.

By the way, was that you at the diving well in Athens wearing the clown shoes and the tutu?

RE: Olympic Swimming Excitement

We've had way more masters in the pool this summer compared to last summer, don't know if it's the Olympics or the natural growth of our program. We (Rose Bowl) are taking 5 teams (30 swimmers) to the Maui Relay over Labor Day weekend.

But I suspect the interest stems from the fact that it's August, and it's hot, rather than people feeling inspired to be the next Phelps/Coughlin.

Part of me hopes the interest will die down, if only so my pool will become less crowded. :)

RE: Olympic Swimming Excitement

OK, the pool has been packed this week with folks in new goggles and new suits. Any other cities seeing this?

How long can I expect the pool to be packed from the Olympic induced swimming craze?

Only about half as long as they are packed for New Year's Resolutions! (In other words, give it two weeks!):)

RE: Olympic Swimming Excitement

OK, the pool has been packed this week with folks in new goggles and new suits. I'm afraid the general public interest in swimming will pass quickly when its not on TV every night. But meanwhile, its very exciting
