When a swimmer tapers for a big meet, the taper usually targets a particular day or a particular weekend, etc.

How does a guy like Phelps taper for a 10-day meet? Does he target the first day? The first final race? The last day?

Or does he work his ass off right up to the first day of heats?<div style="clear:both;"></div>
