i just want to thank all of you who had this battle in the past--it was all of the advice that I read that helped this problem to be solved.

ah, cool, quick water. what&#39;s better than that?

Shaky, I don&#39;t blame you for riding your bike now...I have really fallen in love with my bike, and find that swimming has become the most pain in the *** thing to do of all 3 disciplinces (swim, bike, run). Oh well, though. perhaps getting outside will brighten it up a bit.

Sounds like my pool. Been pretty lucky at our pool, it&#39;s kept at no more than 82 in the lap pool,

We steam Chesapeake blue crabs here in Maryland. After being steamed in the pool, just sprinkle yourself with Old Bay seasoning and serve yourself up.

What about the opposite problem - pools too cold?

Is there such a thing? I&#39;ve never encountered it.

First, jump or dive in and get the shock over with. It doesn&#39;t do you any good to ease into the pool.

Second, swim harder. If the pool&#39;s too cold at first, it won&#39;t be after you get the blood moving.

Unless you&#39;re talking about a 60&#39; pool or something, but like I said, I&#39;ve never heard of a pool that was too cold.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: went to war on hot water

What about the opposite problem - pools too cold? I hate giving lessons in the rec. pool, so I try to get more kids used to the lap pool because one Saturday morning, I spent 2-1/2 hours in 92+ degrees and was totally wiped out. (Closer to dead would be more accurate.) Besides, kids should learn to get into a larger pool anyway, IMHO. Here&#39;s one way you know when you&#39;ve been cooked too long, go weight yourself after being in a too warm pool. You will be amazed. We steam Chesapeake blue crabs here in Maryland. I, however, tired of battling over so many deficiencies in the pools I was using, so I just quit swimming altogether. I figured it was easier just to give up than continue the fight, so that just adds to my admiration of your efforts.

Day before yesterday I biked ten miles in the pouring rain. When I finished, I had a mud streak up my back from my ass to my neck. My legs were covered in dirt off the road. My bike was a mess.

It was most excellent, more enjoyable than any of the workouts in these miserable pools.

I&#39;m dissatisfied, though, because ten miles seems like nothing, yet my lungs burn and my legs are jelly afterward. I can&#39;t wait to get my distance up. Even so, as I&#39;m huffing up the hills, all I have to do is think of hot water and idiots swimming down the wrong side of the lane, and I get a lovely burst of energy.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: went to war on hot water

Shaky:

I am afraid to complain too much about the chlorine because I don&#39;t want it closed down permanently.

I accepted this answer for 8 weeks, and then one day I just snapped...the water was so hot that I had to cut my workout short--really short. So, I sent in an email from the health club&#39;s web site, expecting no response, but thinking it would be a start.

I have been a member for almost two years, and lately something horrible has happened. For the last 8 weeks the lap pool has been considerably hot, and has caused my swimming workouts to suffer tremendously.

The reason why I joined the health club, and convinced two of my friends to join is for the purpose of lap swimming. However, with this hot water I find that I am unable to do it and have had to cut my workouts short several times. Frankly this situation is getting tiresom, and many swimmers are complaining amongst each other more and more about the hot water in the lap pool.

So, I&#39;m wondering if you plan to keep the water this hot, or if you have a rememdy in sight.

Thanks,
JoAnne

This worked and they emailed me back to my surprise...they lowered the temperature. IF they weren&#39;t going to do it I was going to go somewhere else. I think the fact that it wasn&#39;t just me who was upset really sealed it.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: went to war on hot water

Just last night, I was talking to a much older, retired woman who does water aerobics... guess what she said?
