I&#39;m new to this board. Actually, just new to posting. I&#39;ve been entertained by your comments for quite a while now.

I&#39;ve been swimming for a few years (I&#39;m 29), and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, I really struggle with speed. Duct tape fixes everything! There is a even a beer commercial that proves it (I think for Miller) - the announcer says &quot; The High Life man knows that if the Pharohs had duct tape the pyramids would be standing.&quot; (Or was it the leaning tower of Pisa wouldn&#39;t be leaning or Stonehenge would be all together....)

Anyway, duct tape fixes everything!:)<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggle Woes

I found the best of both worlds and it also solved a long-standing problem of the nose piece digging into my nose (I have close set eyes)....The View goggles. The eye piece isn&#39;t soft and cuishy, but it fits my eyes very well. The orange or yellow color is quite soothing in an outside. I&#39;ve even noticed a lot of teammates sporting these goggles.

P.S. so I bought a pair of speedo super seal for women. they sem neat. have a sticky seal pad and things, but really these things have been a huge disapointment.

The best goggles in the world are either Speedo&#39;s GCGs or Vanquishers. The GCG &#39;s have a thin neoprene seal, where the Vanquishers have silicone gaskets. Both include adjustable nose pieces, which solve the nose bridge concerns.

On a side note, tighter goggle straps don&#39;t necessarily mean a tighter seal. Also, I would agree with wearing your goggles underneath your cap if you&#39;re diving. Otherwise, in my opinion, it doesn&#39;t matter how you wear them.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggle Woes

I have to admit those darn vanquishers don&#39;t fit me at all and I&#39;m fairly average in features, slightly uglier than most, however.

I have found that in determining which goggles work, it comes down to the bridge size of my nose. If the nose piece of the goggles is too wide they leak, too narrow they leak... swedish goggles are great because it&#39;s a string for the adjustment instead of a piece of plastic with only a couple of settings.

Do you dive with goggles? Not that it matters, but some people think it&#39;s the goggles that come off, when it&#39;s actually the dive itself that causes them to come off.

Could definitely be a &#39;bridge&#39; thing. It feels like that is where I get the separation.

And I don&#39;t do any diving. That would probably pull them off my face alone. At this point, just pushing off too forcefully can cause a leak.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Goggle Woes

I&#39;m just wondering if there is some trick to getting the perfect seal.

I put a thin layer of Vaseline around the rim. If you have a close fitting pair, that can be a lot gentler for keeping the water out than tightening them down too much.

I used to wear compy&#39;s but those are now called something else. I prefer the swedish goggles although they took some getting used to (with no gasket)- actually they are just like compys without the gasket.

I agree with, I think it was, Mattson that when you try them on, try them without the strap, you should get suction, but not too much! Whenever I get new goggles and I&#39;m adjusting the strap that&#39;s what I do.

A good fit is if you can get the goggles to stay in place *without* using the straps (even if it is just for a moment).
