You guys don't go to SwimInfo.com much do you? There have been several articles on the new swim suits by Speedo and Tyr swiminfo.com/.../6945.asp Speedo FASTSKIN FSII including Americans Amanda Beard, Lenny Krayzelburg, Michael Phelps and Jenny Thompson. Grant Hackett (AUS), Michael Klim (AUS), Inge de Bruijn (NED), Massimiliano Rosolino (ITA), Katy Sexton (GB), Hannah Stockbauer (GER) and Kosuke Kitajima (JPN). Speedo has created male- and female-specific suits, as well as stroke-specific suits Tyr swiminfo.com/.../6949.asp swiminfo.com/.../6942.asp They have a patent pending on a structural element that can improve a swimmer's time by decreasing the force water exerts on swimmers, called "drag," by 10 percent when incorporated into the swimsuit design.

Wayne, Yes, I go to Swim Info, frequently, and I'm a little annoyed that the only info available on the new products are press releases on Swim Info. (Even the TYR banner ad on Swim Info does not go to their Corporate web site; it goes back to the press release on Swim Info.) I am in the market for a new competition suit. I would be interested in giving the latest thing a try to see if it makes a difference at my (ahem) humble end of the competition scale (i.e. does it really matter when you are as old, slow and fat as I am). C'mon guys! Don't tease me with declarations about how terrific these suits are, how they will be available for Olympic athletes and the rest of us mere mortals, and then have not a word about these suits on the Corporation web sites. I've come to expect this level of chinsey-ness from Speedo, but TYR has provided a pretty good product to me, so I have come to expect better from them. Matt

Old Dog....everytime I swim I get a lesson in humility.....TRUST ME! My first nationals in Fort Lauderdale in 1995 gave me a PHD. in humility...I went 20:58 and the winner in my 45-49 age group went 17:29....then I watched the great Graham Johnston swim 19:30 at age 61... I took me two more years to bust 20 minutes....and Jim Mc Conica (SP) was swimming LOW 17's in my age group. But, I realized that just being there was the win!

Years ago I went to my first SCM meet. Signed up for the 1500. Big tall guy was next to me as only 8 of us signed up to do the race. Anyway, he takes off like a shot. Laps me too many times to count. I finish ~ 22 minutes. He goes 17:05--a masters world record at the time. Matt Clark was his name. Great lesson in humility. ;0)

I think NBC's Today show, on Tuesday, had 4 Speedo sponsored swimmers and video of the NEW full body suit being tested by someone (a female swimmer--now on leave from medical school at Columbia--forget her name). So the suit is past the testing stage and available to potential Olympic competitors.

Perhaps THIS was the suit they were testing: www.usswim.org/.../template.pl This can hardly be considered a surprise, if TYR comes out with a new suit, you knew speedo would be too. These won't be on the masters circuit till next winter... Should drive down the cost of regular fast skin...

Beth, down here in Warner Robins, we get to see Angel Martino a lot. She coaches age group for the team in Milledgeville.

Well, this doesn't top your story, but.... One day at the pool where I swim, I saw that Rudy guy from the "Survivor" TV series. He was accompanied by a huge crowd of wannabes for his next TV project (something to do with a fitness challenge). Cameras crews were all over it.

That wasn't the suit. It was a navy blue racing suit with silver trim. It was a beautiful suit. I like the new TYR suit too.

Hey Beth, I know what you mean about getting to watch them swim and talk to them, I was able to watch Maritza and Jason Lezak swim a couple of months ago, and this past Tuesday watched David Denniston, Roland Schoeman and Haley Cope swim, pretty awesome !

WOW. I feel like a teenager being awestruck by their idols whenever I'm around swimmers like that. You read about them, watch them swim, pulling for them at the big meets and watching their standings. When they are swimming next to you....IT IS AWESOME!! Anyone going to National at Indianapollis? The Race Club is planning on attending! More swimmers to stalk! ;) Just kidding!

Maybe so....I didn't ask. I talked to them more about swimming and they just said they were testing swimsuits. They were with some people that were measuring them and they were trying on different suits. I assumed it was Speedo because Kristy Kowal used to be one of their models. I think you are right. I remember now reading that she had signed on with Nike.
