i also suggest not cutting the string for a while as it seems it stretches in the water and then needs re-adjusting. this may be why people find them useless, as it is at this point they start to leak in the eary stages of having purchased some. But after a while and having found a point where the adjustment is both comfortable, doesnt leak and doesnt stretch anymore - they are fine(then the anti -fog goes!!!

Where to find swedish goggles, go back to the USMS home page and look down the left column their is a link to a sponsors page which has a couple of swim shops (JD Pence, CAS, Circle city swim, Kiefer). To answer the question on how to tie swedish goggles, the way I do it is thread the string through the (blue) center tube center piece - if you are going to use it, then through the eyelet of one of the goggles back through the center piece (once again only if you are going to use it then through the eyelet of the other goggle then tie your knot - usually like a square knot, I woulod suggest not tieing it to tightly since you can then untie and readjust. Also I would wear it in the water a few times before cutting the excess string since it can stretch a little and you may once again have to retie. Good luck with the goggles. Jeff

For people with eye sockets that are just right, the swedish goggles are more comfortable, more reliable, longer lasting, more adjustable and less prone to being ripped unceremoniously from one's face at inopportune times. For people whose eye sockets are less than perfect :) , artificial means are required to smoothe out the rough spots in the goggle-face union. Therein lies opportunity for commercial exploitation and ever-increasing goggle prices!

I remember the swedish goggles as completely uncomfortable and always leaking. They we better than nothing at all...just barely. We all rejoiced when Speedo came out with the black rubber gaskets and today there are many other options. Retro can be fun but I don't understand this swedish phenomenon. :confused:

Hi Melissa, I have used Swedish goggles for almost 16 years. Never had a problem. I use an extra piece of the strap to join the goggles together. It is easier than trying to tie a knot and it adheres the goggles to your eye sockets better. This is why the do not leak, nor come off during a dive. Hope that helps! :)

I don't know, but I have an even dumber question: Where can I get a pair? I used to swim with Swedish goggles all the time, but since coming back a month ago I haven't found them anywhere. Grrr..... Sparky
