Recently, I have experimented with using a cap (I also use a cap with my tempo trainer) and I am

RE: Pros and cons of swim cap for bald swimmer

I've wondered the same question. I keep my hair pretty short for meets and only wear a cap for 200 or less. I overheat too easily for longer races and feel, in balance, it would not help me.

RE: Pros and cons of swim cap for bald swimmer

I bet there is little difference in drag between a bald and cap worn head. The only other benefits would be thermal, goggle stability, and visibility.

Stephan Nystrand never wore a cap, and went 20 and 26 resp. for 50m fr and br, and 45 for 100m fr.

RE: Pros and cons of swim cap for bald swimmer

I think your concerns kind of depend one which event/distance you're swimming. Fifty free??? Maybe. Beyond that...probably not so much.

I am a sprinter so these things are not a huge deal. My assumption is that I am faster with it on. In the past few years, I have noticed my forehead getting bigger :afraid:and perhaps because of this, something new appeared in the "cons" column. Because of the pre race sweat under my cap, my cap came off within about 25 meters of the 100 fly. I have learned how to avoid this, but when it is uber hot, something to think about.
