I am French man 51 years old and I present you a new underwater stroke named "Atlantis" to swim like and with the Dolphins. This is not a "Dolphin Kick" stroke, because arms are propulsive in the body undulation.

I use this style with paddle and fins in swimming pool for have better capacity in apnea/hypoxia.

For example:

8*100m DK fins + paddle with more 15m apnea after the wall in 25m swimming pool or 25m apnea after the wall in 50m swimming pool.
Complete repose between the 100m. Speed: 1.10 to 1.15 for swimmer 1.00 in freestyle.

The underwater races are still experimental:

12183

For safety a minimum number of inspiration is imposed between different parts of the underwater course. For example, between door B1 and B2 three inspirations are imposed. Idem between B2 and B3.

From door DE to B1 the swimmer is in apnea to go through the horizontal slalom. But for the vertical slalom, B3 to AR, you have four imposed inspirations.

Several swim judges are in the water and provide security.

RE: Underwater swimming with new Atlantis stroke

How did you get the flags to stay put?

With this you can practice Atlantis and "crawl ondulation".

Crawl ondulation is like that: Two or five ondulations with your arms in hyperstreamline above your head and for breathing one arm front crawl.

No snorkel needed. Better for your hypoxia capacity.

RE: Underwater swimming with new Atlantis stroke

. It will, of course get you get you DQd as you are going over15M underwater and going back under after you surface.

IIRC (and I might not) there was a discussion here about underwater races a few years ago. I believe that idea was rejected various organizing bodies for competition with the idea that if you pushed yourself as hard as you could for 50 yards underwater, there would a higher-than-acceptable risk of drowning.

RE: Underwater swimming with new Atlantis stroke

Enjoyed the abstract, thanks.
