Same here. I assumed it was "loff-lin." I thought it's like "laugh...". Same with Natalie Coughlin, I just found out it's not "cough...".

By the way, after reading the NY Times article I just realized I pronounced his last name wrong all along. Same here. I assumed it was "loff-lin."

Shocking and sad news. Every time I read about a swimmer's premature death I thought, that shouldn't happen! I'm glad I read his book Total Immersion when I just began to take up swimming, so that I knew what common mistakes to avoid. By the way, after reading the NY Times article I just realized I pronounced his last name wrong all along.

Terry was a great friend and consistent swim buddy. We have hundreds of miles logged together in many beautiful locations. This past week has been one of mourning and celebration and deep reflection. I don't know if there is another person as passionate about swimming.... He was a great guy and had such dedication to the sport. His book was the one that motivated me to get back into the water after a long lay-off. He will be greatly missed.

Very sad news! I hardly knew of him, because I am so new to the sport, but, it seems he had quite a big impact, including for himself as a swimmer. I just bought his latest book because it's inspiring to learn about someone making gains later in life.

"Total Immersion" founder Terry Laughlin lost his battle with cancer last Friday: www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/.../ I remember Terry posting here back in the day. Rest in peace, Terry! :angel: How sad! I had some posts going back and forth with him myself. He was very helpful regarding my miserable butterfly, and I ended up buying his video, "Better Fly for Every Body." I am so sorry to hear of his death. He was quite the swim guru to many people, and he was a nice guy!
