The Daily Show video is done tongue in cheek and is funny. The real footage of the real swimmer is not a joke and is heartwarming. I never saw the actual footage, so I thought this was just a spoof. I apologize if anyone got offended.

And here is a feature, I'd not seen. He demonstrates so much of why I choose to swim. To compete not just against others, but against all that would challenge me. He is cognizant of where he fits in the field, and still he competed with dignity. www.youtube.com/watch

He's braver and a lot faster than I am. What I thought was funny was the way the commentator talked about it, and how the other swimmers disqualified themselves by jumping off too soon. But when you look the event, Moussambani did a pretty darned good job. Honestly, though, I thought it was a spoof since it came from The Daily Show.

Moussambani tried again in 2004, but didn't make it to the Games due to some kind of paperwork issue. By that time he had lowered his 100 free time down to 57 seconds. Not too shabby at all! www.olympic.org/.../eric-moussambani-sydney-2000-changed-my-life

It was, but it was based on a true story. Part of that video footage was real. (It was obvious which footage wasn't!)
