The pool could be 25 meters wide.

10 lane FINA pools often are 50m x 25m. I regularly train/compete in one. When it goes to SCM, they move the bulkhead, not just the lane ropes.

(Most of the year, the MSAC indoor comp area is set up as LCM pool, moveable bulkhead, 4 SCM lanes strung in the opposite direction, moveable bulkhead, diving/water polo pool. For State Age SCM Championships, they had SCM pool, bulkhead, 2nd SCM pool, bulkhead, warmup/cool down area in the diving pool. For most smaller SCM meets, it's SCM pool, bulkhead, SCM warm up lanes strung in the opposite direction, bulkhead, dive pool. We were SCM last Friday - don't know why - swimming diving blocks to bulkhead)

RE: Americas Masters Games 2016 Announced

World Masters Games, 21-30 April 2017, are in Auckland, NZ (a nice place, as far as I know!) Maybe they can do the open water race in Kitsilano ;)

I've swum in Europe SCM so I realize they do not swim 25 yards. It's hard to see the far end of the pool in the picture, so it's hard to say if there is a bulkhead or not.

RE: Americas Masters Games 2016 Announced

The venue, Complexe Jean Bouin, has a 50 meter pool, depth is 1.8 m (about 6 feet).

That looks like a nice pool, but the spectator seating looks rather meager for a hemispherical event. (It's pretty clear from the light pattern that the side we can't see in the picture has windows, not bleachers.) Also, the ceiling looks quite featureless - not good for backstrokers.

RE: Americas Masters Games 2016 Announced

don't see any lines across the pool

I also don't see any lines across the pool in the picture you attached to give any indication that it is sometimes used short course. So I'm going with LCM.

Thanks!

RE: Americas Masters Games 2016 Announced

The venue, Complexe Jean Bouin, has a 50 meter pool, depth is 1.8 m (about 6 feet).

So LCM is possible. But the meet information booklet doesn't say so explicitly.
