I swam with Chris at Michigan State. We trained together in the distance lane every day. Had huge zest for life and always seemed to have a great time no matter what. Always saw life with the glass half full perspective. Can not believe this has happened. I will never forget him and the great times we had together in the pool and in life.

I am so, so sad to hear of this news. Chris was a great guy, a great competitor and entirely too young. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

No matter how much comfort it might be to know that someone goes out doing something they love, it can't erase the sense of loss, and my prayers are with the family and friends.

This is so profoundly tragic and devastating. I had only met Chris recently this year when we swam several workouts together while he was vacationing with his family at Fort Myers Beach in Florida just before the YMCA Nationals in Sarasota. During those few workout sessions I discovered what a dynamic person and terrific swimmer Chris was. His presence was inspiring, fun, encouraging, and motivating. I will always remember him. My heartfelt condolences to all the family and friends of Chris.

Yes. Thanks Kirk. I never met Chris but anytime I pm'd him with a question, he was always kind and quick to respond.

When I heard about this I could not believe what I was reading. I am just numb. He will be very sorely missed and my heart goes out to his family, especially his daughter who he thought the world of. Truelly a sad sad day.

I heard about this earlier today. Truly devastating. Chris was a teammate of mine at Michigan State as well as a friend. I'm sure anyone who knew Chris can attest that when he was around things were going to be fun. He was just that kind of guy. Condolences to Chris' family.
