Usually they do not issue a timeline until all of the entries are in. They estimate it off of the number of entries for each event and the entry times. You are sort of in a Catch-22, they probably won't give they information you need until after the entry deadline. Maybe someone can give a rough estimate based on who has entered so far.

Any update on the actual schedule for Summer Nats in MD? I am local to the event and may have to work part of a day and then go to the pool to swim. I can't just hang around all day. I am burning up my vacation time at Worlds in Montreal the week before. So I need to know the estimated start times for each event. This affects what I sign up for and the deadline is coming soon. Any suggestions?

From the pic, it looks as if it is only one pool? Am I missing something? Yes, it's a short course meet and the pool is 50 meters long, so they can have two (25 yard) courses with a bulkhead. Also it was mentioned there's also an indoor 50 m pool in the same complex.

That would get my vote, it is a rule that never made sense to me.I agree with Chris on this one; seems like a strange rule.

I'm in the same boat for the 200IM. I missed it at Omaha because the last flight out that day was leaving. I was able to make my swim in Indy but had a car waiting out front and 10min after my swim, I was out the door to the airport. Definitely not how you want to swim your main race. If I already have to take 5 days off for Nationals, I can't take another one everytime just to make the 200 IM.

Sounds like you need a new travel agent to book your travel a little smarter...:D Just kidding.I know. It's probably just me, but it seems like I often end up having to be somewhere for work on the Monday after spring Nationals! Given the option of keeping the 400 IM on Friday (which I love) and having the 200 IM on Sunday at the end, I'll always vote to have the 400 IM on Friday. It would just be nice if the 200 IM could be earlier some years on Sunday. Also, as I'm not man enough to trash the rest of my meet by swimming either the 1000 or 1650 on the first day, I'll not suggest messing with any rules that the distance swimmers like. Come to think of it, these days, I'm just not man enough to swim the 1000 or 1650 any day of any meet ;) With all that said, I am really happy :agree: with the lineup. I just need one core event and one fun event each day and this lineup delivers it.

Well, Stewart, if it makes you feel better, 200 IMers seem to get the last event in the lineup at most Nationals. I've missed most of my 200 IMs at Nationals due to the need to fly home. Sounds like you need a new travel agent to book your travel a little smarter...:D Just kidding. The reason the 200 IM is almost always on the last day is the result of a domino effect. There is a rule on the books that states the 400/500 free shall not be the day after the distance day. Which means the 400 IM is typically that next day. And since the 400/500 free's are now pushed to Sat and Sunday, that means the 200 free is always on Friday. With LC Nats not having the 100 IM, it typically gets inserted into Saturday for SC Nationals. Which leaves the 200 IM for Sunday. Perhaps we should see how many people actually do the 100/400 IM double and if it isn't very popular just have both of those on the same day (Friday). Or get rid of the rule about the 400/500 free not being the day after the distance day. After all, some distance swimmers ask to do both long distance events on the same day; but they can't do the 400/500 free the next day?? Jeff

That's what us West Coasters refer to as efficiency. Sounds about right to me Jim. Think I'll show up on the last day and just do the 500, 200 free, 50 fly and 200 IM.

I suspect it's impossible to make everyone happy with the lineup but it sucks for mid D(men) who also swim backstroke. if you want to complain look at free/fly lineup 100 fly 50 free and 200 free 50 fly thats 4 of 6 events right there back to back.

I finally realize that your shoulder must really be bad if you've been reduced to considering 50s and 100s as actual events. :bolt:

p.s. this is an old photo (says january 2013)...all construction is now done.I just saw it on swimswam today (swimswam.com/.../) so thought it was up to date. Would love to see newer photos and/or that slide show. I've seen the Alamo and the Riverwalk, so I need a more compelling reason to visit San Antonio again; the construction photos look promising. Of course, I'd also love to see a spectator friendly OW race through the Riverwalk (along with some chlorine) for a really good reason to come out for Nationals -- the San Antonio Riverwalk Chute-Out anyone?

Interesting. I didn't realize the San Antonio pool was going to be outdoors. at convention Susan Ingram presented a slide show that demonstrated the possibility of 20 lanes outside and 20 lanes inside. (the covered building just northwest of the outdoor pool is also an indoor 50m). p.s. this is an old photo (says january 2013)...all construction is now done.
