I always have 2 pair of goggles - one for meets and one for practice. The meet goggles are the newer pair and are set to be tight. Because I don't change the tightness between meets, it gives me confidence on my dives. When I need a new pair, the meet goggles become practice goggles and the new ones are used at meets.

This came up the other day at practice. How often should you change your goggles? As often as I change my underwear. About every 3 mos. But after tomorrow I won't need to do either. :badday: :afraid: :angel: :D

Is changing my goggles three times during one workout too often? I swim outdoors a lot so..... ...light grey/blue in the AM ...black during daylight ...reflective/morror on real bright days I have had upon occasion when swimming outdoors to use more than one pair of goggles because the amount of sunlight kept changing. I use light blue or clear when swimming indoors, or a night. I feel the black or mirror types are overkill when swimming indoors or for a night workout outdoors. This makes sense to me! When I was in Sanibel on vacation, I trained at an outdoor pool. It started off cloudy, so I used my clear goggles. Then, all of a sudden, the sun broke through and nearly blinded me! :afraid: So, I got out and fished around for my metallized goggles. I was glad I brought them with me or backstroke would have been OUT for the remainder of the workout.

I have about 10 pair of Swedish goggles(they were cheaper when you ordered 10) but I've been using the one I use at the moment for about 10 years or more. I just added Bungee straps to them. There is nothing that will make them less good than 10 years ago(100% plastic) so why change them? I'm sure they will still be usable after I'm dead for 100 years or more:D

I wear swedes and only change the strap on them until the lenses get too scratched up. I've worn my current pair for about three years now, just replacing the strap every 4-5 months or so. I've still got my first pair of swedes from about 20 years ago--wore them for about 8 years before the lenses got too scratched up to see clearly enough through them. Every now and then I'll switch from the blue swedes to the orange ones when I'm swimming indoors, and then I wear the mirrored metallic swedes outdoors. I've had all three for for about three years and can see using them for another 3+ for sure with strap replacements. Not bad for an initial ~$3 investment for the goggles and about $10 a year for replacement straps!

I usually keep them for as long as they last or until someone decides they need them more than me. The last pair i had were a 5 year old pair of lane 4 (now finis). Then disappeared when someone took my swim bag.

Been using the same pair of Swedish goggles (tinted, with no reflector lenses) since the first week of swimming my freshman year of college. Had to change the straps several times, but going on 9 years the goggles themselves have held up quite nicely.

Plus one on the Vanquishers. I use my mirrored dark lens goggles for outdoor swimming and a clear pair for indoor. No complaints with them whatsoever. They last a long time (I have yet to replace a pair due to a malfunction or a broken strap) and I only replace them when I can no longer see out of them, which so far, is typically every 18 months or so. I think I have about 10 different pairs of goggles. Each pair lasts easily 3-5 years. I think I buy 1-2 new a year, but more because I am bored than because I need them. The goggles these days can go forever across any brands. I have goggles from speedo, sporti, water gear and probably some other brands. If I was stranded on a desert island and could only take one pair, though, it would be speedo mirrored vanquishers (Amazon.com: Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 Plus Mirrored Goggle: Sports & Outdoors).

If I was stranded on a desert island and could only take one pair, though, it would be speedo mirrored vanquishers (Amazon.com: Speedo Vanquisher 2.0 Plus Mirrored Goggle: Sports & Outdoors). I need optical goggles and recently bought a pair of optical vanquisher goggles and like them a lot. My only complaint is the straight nose piece. I wish they did an adult nose piece sized like my daughters junior pair where the nose piece is curved to shape around the bridge of the nose. I recall in my student days mixing and matching goggle pieces to make two pairs into one and make them last longer. We did this with our suits also, where we would wear two or three suits where each had holes in different places. One had to be careful with the suits to main your modesty, where as the goggles never had this flaw.

I wear mine as long as I possibly can. I start using a new pair when the old ones get so scratched or foggy that I can't see out of them any more.
