The Grand Prix Series is now the Arena Pro Series. Below are the remaining competitions. They're building up to the Phillips 66 National Championships which starts on June 27 and determines who makes the 2017 World Championship Team. Based on NCAAs, I can't wait to see how fast swimmers swim at Nats and Worlds. MAybe a few WRs and ARs are going to fall. Katie Ledecky is serving notice that she wants to be on the 400 free relay. I have every confidence she will be. I have no idea what her taper strategy will be for Trials, but she could easily afford to taper primarily for the 100/200 and still easily stroll onto the team for the 400 & 800. I don't know if there's any other swimmer except maybe Phelps for the 200 fly & IM and Lochte for the 200 IM that can afford to do less than a full taper and still be pretty assured of being on the team. Katie's just so far ahead of the world in the 400 & 800 that she doesn't need to have exceptional swims for her at Trials to still be on the team.

Katie Ledecky is serving notice that she wants to be on the 400 free relay. Maybe more. Is it possible she's going to go for 7 medals by trying to be top qualifier for all the freestyle spots other than 50, including the 4x100 medley relay? That finals time is only .07 behind the best US women's 100 free in all of 2015 (Missy Franklin).

How does someone have a seed time much slower than the qual time for the event? For instance, Austin GP men's 50 free qual is 24.39. There are several seeds which are slower, one is 28+ seconds???? The meet begins today, they are running prelims in 2 flights, A heats & B heats All the A prelim heats will be swum first then they'll run all the B heats. Anthony Ervin had one of the worst starts I've ever seen from an elite. Aimost half a body length behind. Definitely kept him out of the A final. I didn't see his swim but I remember him having a bad start in London.
