You could just streamline flutter kick and stroke occasionally to breath to the side. Lets you incorporate some rotation into the kick exercise as well!:)

RE: Question about Kick exercises

You don't HAVE to use a kickboard for kick exercises.

Yesterday my workout started off with this exercise:

4 X 100 - 50 DRILL, 25 KICK, 25 SWIM @ 1 : 45 (about 15 sec rest)

In this case I just kicked w/o a kickboard. My question was more if these exercises are intended to be done with a kickboard or not since it doesn't make sense that the board would be at the far end after each round.

RE: Question about Kick exercises

My question was more if these exercises are intended to be done with a kickboard or not

Hard to know the coach's intent but my experience is some people choose to never kick with a board. I'd consider using a board optional in all cases. If you don't like kicking on your stomach w/o a board just flip over and kick on your back.

RE: Question about Kick exercises

Yesterday my workout started off with this exercise:

You could share the lane with someone that does 25 swim and 25 kick instead, then exchange boards. But using a board, snorkel, both or neither is probably optional for kick

RE: Question about Kick exercises

For a set that ended up that way, you could always just SDK one length til you get back to the board ;) Prolly wouldn't hurt matters.

RE: Question about Kick exercises

Assuming you are in a 25yard pool, you only need 1 board for this. Kick the 25 and leave the board at the far end of the pool. Swim/drill 2 50’s and you will end up at the far end with your 1 board.

Ah, ok......I see what you mean. My example was bad.
Last week one workout included this exercise: 4 X 50 KICK/SWIM SPRINT @ 1 : 00
In that case the board would end up on the other side of the pool.

RE: Question about Kick exercises

Ah, ok......I see what you mean. For this exercise, you could KICK/SWIM the first 50, SWIM/KICK the second 50, and so on.

RE: Question about Kick exercises

If a workout includes a kick exercise, does that always mean kicking with a board?
