Are you going to attempt to take his place? :D Hmmm, so I show up there at the pool in Istanbul claiming to be a 6 foot 5 Brazilian with bad knees who already withdrew from the meet. I would have to learn how to say "please let me in" in Portuguese, but other than that, I don't see how this plan can fail! :banana:

You might hear more often about it in the future. Um, it is pretty famous/historically significant already...I suppose the name changes don't help. I swam in a meet there almost 3 decades ago. Someone in the audience gave me the evil eye (seriously); must have worked because I lost a race I should have won.

Agreed! You guys know that Istanbul is in the run to host the Olympic Games in 2020... They have a good shot if they do not get EURO or Expo (now THAT, you can google if it helps). So folks, better learn where this beautiful city is located on the planet! You might hear more often about it in the future. I had no idea that this thread would go so far sideways just because I didn't add ", Turkey" to the thread title. So from now on I will make sure NEVER to qualify place names. Instead I will simply count the train cars as they derail and pile up all over this forum. :bliss:
