I agree it&#39;s more likely he will &quot;fade to black&quot; after this olympics. Thinking about Spitz, Evans, and Thorpe; it was only very recently that Evans came back. We do see Spitz and Thorpe at times. Understandably they want a &quot;real life&quot; after swimming. His interview last night after the 2Fr was a good one. He seems to have matured and as we all know,&quot;good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.&quot; We&#39;re all gaining experience and at times making bad judgements, just hopefully fewer bad judgements as you age.

Hope i have a chance to see him swim sometime or to at least listen to his story (he has at least one ghost written book and it&#39;s a good short read.) Last night was poetry, and he and Ryan in the final 25m were incredible to watch. How do you swim that fast and EZ/gracefull at once?<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Michael Phelps in "Retirement"

He doesn&#39;t have to with $40+ m in the bank.

He won&#39;t have to do anything with that kind of $ in the bank! But, I wonder if he&#39;ll eventually get bored with just playing golf, going to Vegas, etc. He is keeping a journal, so I am guessing he will at least write a book- or have one ghost written for him.<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Michael Phelps in "Retirement"

I definitely do NOT see him becoming a commentator like Rowdy did after retirement. He came off more articulate and mature than he had in any previous interview I had seen. It was an excellent interview! :applaud:

I&#39;ve been wrong about this sort of thing before. John Kruk, who used to play for the San Diego Padres, wasn&#39;t exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Surprisingly, after retirement, he became a baseball commentator and was hired by ESPN. He has done an outstanding job and has been quite impressive in his new career!

Good luck to Michael Phelps, whatever he decides to do after the Olympics! :cheerleader:

I&#39;m glad you reconsidered Elaine. Phelps is definitely the kind of guy people love to hate. I&#39;m impressed with the fact Phelps is an adhd kid who found focus within the confines of the pool and turned it into something very special. Phelps has made some bad choices in his younger years but he seems to have learned from the mistakes and moved on. Isn&#39;t that what life is all about?<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: Michael Phelps in "Retirement"

The cool thing is Michael can probably do about anything he wants when he retires.

Right now it looks like Lochte is likely to rule the pool across the pond.

After the Olympics, Michael will take a break from training and keep in shape. He will do his post olympics commitments. Spend a lot of time in Vegas, NYC, Miami, &amp; LA. Date many beautiful women. In a matter of months or maybe years he&#39;ll get bored. He&#39;s not likely to find anything where he will be as great as he was in swimming. I would be surprised to see him do a comeback for 2016 or 20
