I am also considering this meet, which is the following weekend. I will pick one or the other.

If Greenville, then (tentatively) Day 1: 200 IM, 200 back, 50 back, 400 free; Day 2: 100 back, 50 fly, 400 IM, 800 free.

Well, Swim&#39;, I made my decision and my entry is out in the mail:

Day 1: 50 fr, 100 br, 50 bk, 100 fly, 400 fr
Day 2: 50br, 200 fly, 50 fly, 400 IM, 800 fr.

So, are you going to Greenville? :banana:

Any other Forumites going to Greenville? Haha. Very impressive! :applaud:

Thanks, RX! As you can see by my avatar, I do have a soft spot in my heart for dolphins. :D

One thing for sure: For endurance, I am much better suited to having dolphin fins. My adductors would never allow my frog legs to kick for 2,000 yards of breaststroke! :afraid:(200 yards continuous breaststroke is enough for me! :agree: )

So, I changed my profile to read, &quot;Sprint Breaststroke &amp; Endurance Fly&quot;, when it asks about favorite stroke or event. :bliss:<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 900 yard Butterfly- Really!

Make that: &quot;2000 yard Butterfly- Really!&quot;

Congratulations, J! :applaud: It wasn&#39;t all that long ago when I finally made my first 100 yards. Trust me on this; you can build up to doing more. Stay relaxed, breathe on every stroke, don&#39;t kick too hard, and, as Ande says, &quot;Ride the glide&quot;. I followed his advice (I&#39;m still not too successful on some of it, though) and it worked! I know you can do it! :agree:

My neck feels great, as do my shoulders! And, I have degenerative discs at C5-C6, as well as osteophytes. (I was rear-ended at full speed, back in 1992, and had to wear a Philadelphia collar for six months; one of those HUGE neck braces.)

I used to prefer side breathing fly, but it just got too painful for my neck. Breathing to the front was even worse- until I learned to look down when I breathe. It makes a world of difference! I used to hate breathing in fly, because it was much more comfortable on my neck not to, but I also learned I needed air- on every stroke- in order to last more than 50 yards.

Anyway, thank you. Being a &quot;beast&quot; in this context is a good thing! After all, my husband does call me, &quot;Aqua Dog&quot;! :bliss:<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 900 yard Butterfly- Really!

Make that: &quot;2000 yard Butterfly- Really!&quot;

If you do all this in a meet, or a workout, as per the guidelines, you can enter into the Brute Squad Swim here: <a href="http://www.brutesquadswim.com/">http://www.brutesquadswim.com/</a>
The website gets updated getting closer to the start date, which is November 1st, and runs thru Dec. 31st. Yards or meters works, and they do the conversions.

While it&#39;s fun to do the brute events &quot;for the fun of it&quot;, I&#39;d personally rather &quot;get something&quot; like a paid for t-shirt/sweatshirt for my troubles. :D<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 900 yard Butterfly- Really!

Having done a 900 fly, you are now officially fearless, and can sign up for either event, or both, with confidence!

Aussie Power IM Set

2 x 400 IM on 8:00 :afraid:
4 x 200 IM on 4:00 :afraid:

The above message is an e-mail I received from the orthopaedic surgeon who operated on my shoulder for thoracic outlet syndrome. :lmao:
By the way, Dr. Braun was 71 years old when he operated on me. He was the pioneer of the surgical technique used for my operation and known for being one of the top surgeons in the country for T.O.S.

Fast forward almost nine years and he is still working full time and doing surgery! The guy has the steadiest hands I have ever seen and is sharp as a tack, at 80 years old. Elaine, you really should start training for the 200 fly. You held form very well for almost 1,000....that&#39;s amazing. I think you&#39;d be a natural + the competition to make top 10 really thins out in the 200 fly for women 50 and over. :applaud:

Whaaaaaat? 5,000 LCM butterfly??? :afraid:I&#39;m exhausted just thinking about it!

I already am starting to train for both 200 fly and 400 IM. :D Yesterday, I swam a broken 800 IM; one way to train for both, as well as my 200 breaststroke. Thanks for the suggestion and encouragement; I appreciate it! Maybe Geek is right, after all; at least about possibly being a better distant swimmer than sprinter... On my second attempt of 400 IM, I was already between a BB and a B on the Motivational Times Chart (I only have the 2010 one to refer to...) That&#39;s not exactly screamin&#39; speed, but it was during a workout, from a push off, without giving it 100% effort.

My goal is to do both 200 fly and 400 IM at Mission Viejo, in 2013, as well as at other meets before then. :bolt:<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 900 yard Butterfly- Really!

Yeah, I knew that; I was just teasin&#39;! :D

So, by the looks of it, you were the first Forumite to achieve Buttnernut status; at least of those who have come forward. 12/8/2007 was the date you swam 500 fly. And, it appears you are on Team NASTI! Well, then, as you know, you can let Doug Church know of your latest Butternut accomplishment and he will add it under your name, on the website. Way to go! :applaud: And, I am glad I inspired you! Hey, at least I&#39;m good for somethin&#39; around here... :bolt:

Yes, I am a proud NASTI swimmer! I swim every Saturday and Sunday with the original &quot;Butternut&quot; Mr. Dan Welkin. I believe Dan did a 5,000 LCM butterfly last summer.
Elaine, you really should start training for the 200 fly. You held form very well for almost 1,000....that&#39;s amazing. I think you&#39;d be a natural + the competition to make top 10 really thins out in the 200 fly for women 50 and over. :applaud:<div style="clear:both;"></div>

RE: 900 yard Butterfly- Really!

Hehehe! Bobinator is not my real name, as beautiful as it is. My non-usms name is Robin Walker. You should find me on there, at least I was right after I did it. I actually did another 500 yesterday in a solo workout and yes you inspired me. I thought about trying a 1,000 but I was definitely done after a 500.
