The email I just got says 2,668 swimmers entered. How many entered last year? It just looked like there were less. Maybe the print makes it look like there were less. :dunno:

I'm not mentally ready to do that swim again. Maybe next year when I age up. Um, maybe not, 45-49 is even worse.

I do think the total number of entries was less, I'm just curious by how much. If you look here it shows 2,847 last year, but it specifies that the number does not include unattached or foreign swimmers.

Since I have no data to disprove this claim, I assert that I posted the top backstroke distance. For next year, I might try a one hour IM - 15 minutes of each stroke :banana:

M85-89 Record: Clarence Ross 1985 3240 Yards Now there's a record that has stood for a looong time! Clarence was a great swimmer and a great human being.

let the bragging begin. You first! 5,255 yards is a nice swim! You got me by 105 yards. All that mileage in the pool is paying off for you. Epic gridge between Jeff Erwin and Mike Shaffer in the 45-49 age group. Erwin went 5,595 and Shaffer went 5,590!

...We did that as a relay one year, I did backstroke. Doing 1 hour backstroke was MUCH more enjoyable than doing it freestyle, especially since it was outdoors. I can't remember how far I went, I know it was over 5K... Wow, that's a pretty good hour's worth of Backstroke, Chris! Reminds me of a lanky backstroker in High School that beat us all in the 1,650 a few times.

We did that as a relay one year, I did backstroke. Doing 1 hour backstroke was MUCH more enjoyable than doing it freestyle, especially since it was outdoors. I can't remember how far I went, I know it was over 5K. Saw the following in the results in my age group: 1. Jeff Erwin 5595 2. Mike Shaffer 5590 Pretty tough to swim that far and lose by a mere 5 yards...

Erwin went 5,595 and Shaffer went 5,590! Thanks! Your 5150 would have beat me last year. The 45-49 age group was pretty tough, I would have ended up 7th there. I know I'll be watching Ethan Sulaulnier's bubbles in the 1650 at NE SCY Champs.
