Arena says their new suit uses carbon fiber for "durability and intelligent compression." Pretty cool if true. Haven't seen any pricing info though.

http://arenainternational.com/ seems to be gearing up for an unveiling but

RE: Carbon is the new rubber

Techsuit martyrs, Luddites, etc, ignore links above and click here: http://bit.ly/defcon

Haven't seen that one in awhile... thanks for the laugh. On a side note, I always thought Rick Astly's voice sounded like it should have come out of a different body. ;)

RE: Carbon is the new rubber

Hoooooooooo Huuuuuuuuum.

It said something like, "good enough to ride on, good enough to ride in."
The pricing really wasn't too bad. But then again in the cycling world you get used to sticker shock rather quickly.

RE: Carbon is the new rubber

What part of fabric doesn't FINA understand?

Have you ever seen carbon fiber? It sure looks like a fabric when woven! Wikipedia agrees, too:
Several thousand carbon fibers are twisted together to form a yarn, which may be used by itself or woven into a fabric.
en.wikipedia.org/.../Carbon_(fiber)

"Fabric" doesn't imply a natural material otherwise none of the current suits containing lycra, nylon or polyester would be legal.

edit: now that I think about it the suit rules use the word "textile" rather than "fabric," correct?

RE: Carbon is the new rubber

What part of fabric doesn't FINA understand?
