I don't wear racing suits during practice or workouts, so I consider my workout/practice suits to be my "drag" suits.

My practice suits have rough fabric (i.e., Speedo endurance) that hold a lot of water. I've proven to myself that I definitely swim faster in a meet than I do during practice, which I partly attribute to the change in suit type.

RE: Women in drag

All the age groupers wear them, when we practice. According to the coach, they wear them only when AF is in town. I can only confirm that they wear them sometimes, but not other times.

(my personal feeling on drag suits is I wear one first half of the season, swimming with that extra resistance. I then peel down to just a brief in the back half of the season when I am working on more race rehearsal stuff.)

RE: Women in drag

Just started wearing an old, badly stretched out jammer over my regular jammer the past two work-outs. I'm not too concerned about it messing up my stroke. If anything, it will have me fighting that much harder for every bit of efficiency and streamlining. I usually train with jammers, but I have an older mesh suit that I wear when I also wear my square leg suit or when I am getting ready to taper. Being that I have dropped 16 pounds since the new year, the jammer is pretty loose these days, but I don't plan on buying another suit for a while since I just receive the yingfa for races.

I actually wore the drag suit the other day for the IM set in workout one of HVW - took it off for the full IM swims in an attempt to get near my addup time.

RE: Women in drag

At a recent meet I went to, the age groupers were finishing up their early morning work out when I got there.Everyone of the girls was wearing a thin T shirt under her suit.I asked one of the coaches about it and he said it was for drag and for warmth.

RE: Women in drag

I have a nylon mesh drag suit in a women's tank style. This "argument" of sprinter vs. distance person could go on forever and ever. I know what makes me feel good, you know what makes you feel good.

Not sure it's a sprinter vs distance person argument ... I used to wear drag suits and nylons as an age grouper too. I just look at things differently now. The only artificial drag I want is when I use my parachute or cordz for power work.

RE: Women in drag

I would like to recommend my good friends at this link.

Men's Brief Style Drag Suit,

I personally own three swim briefs from this company, plus one of their t-shirts. Pretty new company they are in my geographic area. All of the staff are swimmers, plus one swimming coach. The swimming and water polo teams in this area using this company really like their products.

If you were at the SCM Championships in Long Beach this past December, then you had a good chance to see me wear this suit. I received numerous compliments on it.
