It's running in deep water with or without a special flotation belt. Your feet don't touch the bottom. Very effective for maintaining running-specific fitness for injured runners/multisport athletes.

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

Deep water running! I'm not sure they have anything like that, but this is what I did: I took what I could (at that time) easily do in a practice, and multiplied it by the approximate days I thought I would be swimming that year (you know, 3 days a week for 50 weeks or whatever) - and then I added a few yards. Then I looked at how the GTD calculator converted the yards to miles and rounded it further.
You can also do reverse math, like I know that x #yards + x #miles. If I swim 3 days a week, how far do I have to go for each workout? Ewww, that's too much, lets see what happens if I do four days a week? Etc. You can change your goal throughout the year, you know. :D

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

Never heard of deep water running, but it makes sense.

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

Maybe things like crunches, pullups, pushups?

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

Another vote for the elliptical...

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

If anyone has suggestions for additional activities to be included in the FLOG list, please post those here, too.

One thing I remembered after my initial post was the ability to display a linear view with the option to display comments in-line. I currently only use the FLOG to record my yardage/mileage. If I was able to see a historical view of my workouts (even just for the past 30 days or so) which included comments, I would probably record some workout details. I know I can create blog posts with my workout, but I have a) no interest in sharing my lame workouts with other people, and b) I don't think that would allow me to display a bunch of posts in one fell swoop for review.

Something like:

date
.. yardage details (if any)
.. comments (if any)
date
.. yardage details (if any)
.. comments (if any)
...

skipping those days with no data.

Are awards given for anything other than swimming?

Although I do other activities, I don't bother putting anything in my FLOG outside of swimming.

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

I would like to see both elliptical and rowing machine added

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

If anyone has suggestions for additional activities to be included in the FLOG list, please post those here, too.

Once you enter the 2012 go distance event, you'll be able to access the calendar to update your progress. Above the canendar there are two boxes and in the second box there is a line:

My Go The Distance 2012 goal: Progress towards goal:

Click on the goal link and it will prompt you to set your goal in miles. It wasn't avaiable until 1/1/2012, so even if you entered earlier I don't think you could set a goal before new year's day. You can adjust it periodically an when you enter progress in the calendar, it will atuto update your progress.

RE: Fitness Log suggestion

Excellent point.
