Quick question: What gain can be expected when upgrading from a FSII to a FS3 (or any other top performing jammer) in for instance a 50?

Do you speak or know most USMS swimmers? NO. What difference does it make how one swims in regards to whether they purchase a suit? It is entirely a personal decision and I know plenty of swimmers who aren't at the very top of USMS who have the suits. Give it a rest already with your almost two year rant against the suits. If you don't like them, don't wear them but enough already with the endless griping about them. It's extra mcdumb now. Hmm, I would feel a bit awkward wearing such an expensive suit and swim only moderate times. (which most swimmers do)

Is it possible that if you spend an xtra $200 to $500 you could be paying for a fiction novel? Not only possible, but in the case of some companies and the products they have released, I would say it is probable. Everyone has to pick and choose what products (if any) make sense.

Investing $200-$500 on swim attire is completely reasonable. I'd do it in a heartbeat if I worked half as hard at swimming as most people in this thread. I am impressed at how far people in USMS push themselves, not just stubbornly keeping up the pretenses out of nostalgia, but actively adapting to the changes in the sport. The workouts and blog recaps that get posted are very strenuous for people who must also juggle careers and/or families. Seeing as how no one gets paid or receives a education scholarship for this effort, it must be out of genuine passion for what they are doing. For something so important, most of you owe it to yourself to have a first class experience at a milestone swim meet. Even if you aren't pushing for first place, you are still racing against yourself and your own standards for performance. :santa3:

Is it really worth $395 to possibly gain a 10th of a second or do they guarantee a time gain? Just wondering. it's surprising to me that there's such a price gap between the $395 JAMMER FASTSKIN3 SUPER ELITE HIGH WAISTED and the $260 JAMMER FASTSKIN3 SUPER ELITE

There are many fast suits on the market and if you want to optimize your performance at a meet you should wear one.Probably the most cost effective is the Yingfa and they are definitely fast suits.The question is:are the new Speedo and TYR suits faster and if so are they worth the extra expense to YOU. :applaud: That was exactly what I expressed earlier as my opinion (:2cents:). The question is:are the new Speedo and TYR suits faster and if so are they worth the extra expense to YOU. Exactly. It's a personal decision that should have nothing to do with where one falls in the event rankings. Other sports have gear. I see runners of every level with expensive gamins and tris with their fancy bikes. Adults tend to spend $$$ on hobbies they are passionate about.

I expect they may be slightly faster,plus there is the psychological advantage of knowing you have "the fastest suit."(Or alternatively the disadvantage of thinking the other swimmer has a faster suit.) I currently like the B-70 Jammer more than the Speedo because it is lighter and I hope they come out with a long jammer soon.

According to the caption, that's when the philosophy was to minimize the role of the suit. That would get the can sealed up again!!! :agree: CD

Where have I been? How could I have overlooked this thread? Don't answer that, answer these: 1. What style and size did you order? How do the sizes relate to say, the Speedo LZR Elite? That whole side-up for the closed back is so weird. I can see some really undignified over-the-head styles to come.... 2. Did you order one of everything? Including cap, hair net thing, and goggles? ==>oops, I see you did not. 3. Do you have to prepay, even with the USMS discount? Do they charge you right away? Being totally paranoid (or rather, simply the business that I am in), i'd hate to pay several hundred dollars, and, as unlikely as it may be, Speedo files Chapter 7 before my suit comes. 4. What is the ETA your suit arrival? If I order now, and it won't come in time for my Jan meet, then there is no reason for me to pre-order at this time. 1. I ordered the closed back suit in size SR5. I had to measure according to the sizing chart. I've been wearing a 26 in the LZR Elite, which I think runs slightly smaller than the previous generation Speedo Pro. Though, as you know, it stretches out really quickly. I needed a new suit anyway, so I opted to spend slightly more on this suit rather than purchase the older model. I'm not looking forward to wedging myself into it. 3. I was charged right away. 4. ETA is just "Jan. 2012." Since I don't have any imminent meets, I did not inquire further.

Reading more about the suit it seems it has the corset system that they had in the original LZR.I actually think that was a good thing for Masters(or for me anyway) as it made it easier to keep streamlined while tired.It does seem very close to cheating however, as is is practically a suit within a suit.

Okay, here is my .02 and I won't hold back. This is the biggest turd of a marketing program I've ever seen. I mean really....a system?! How freaking gullible do you think people are (actually, don't answer that)? 1. You have 4 Olympians featured in your new suit and what color are they in? Freakin' Eskimo colors looking like they are going to the WINTER games. What happened to the ole' Red, White and Blue?! Even if it isn't the actually games suit....come on man! (insert voices of guys from ESPN NFL coverage). 2. Those goggles....hideous, need I say more. 3. Cap....wow, its a cap, you wear it on your head.
