" ... This is exactly what swimming has been longing for. A high-level, professional dual meet, where points will matter, where every swim by every swimmer will count, where there’s no high school swimmers, no amateurs

RE: Pro Swim League : November 16-17

I think you're looking at this wrong. It seems to me it was a couple guys on Club Wolverine (Bobby Savulich and coach Mark Hill) who tried to get something going, so put this meet together. The fact that swimmers are willing to swim even though the prize money isn't great shows they're interested in the concept and are trying to support it. They've got to start somewhere. If this generates some excitement maybe they can build on it and eventually get big sponsors and bigger prize money.

I agree. Besides, the prize will never be huge. What seems like a reasonable target? Do that, and get women involved.

$10 admission seems reasonable. I would consider going if I was in the area. What will they do to keep the audience entertained between events? Interview the event winners?

RE: Pro Swim League : November 16-17

Anyone know how much money USA swimming pays their national team swimmers?

RE: Pro Swim League : November 16-17

I think they should change the name. It's simply a swim meet with prize money.

"all professionals, all of whom swim not only to win, but to make a living..." Yeah, right. All of those swimmers are making a living at swimming.

RE: Pro Swim League : November 16-17

Top names should refuse to swim in such a meet until real prize money is offered. $50 for 3rd place. What a load of crap.
