In a previous posting by Championship Committee Chair Jeff Rodin (April 18) he stated "The 400 IM and 500 freestyle events will be seeded slowest to fastest by entry time, regardless of age, men and women separate." Therefore the 500 free will not be seeded by age group. The 1650 and 1000 will be seeded men and women together, strictly by time, slowest to fastest.

Maybe they're waiting to see if they have enough in certain age groups to constitute a full heat. Normally what they'll do in those situations is have some heats that have combined age groups, but always make sure the fastest eight (or fastest swimmers, if less than eight are entered in that age group) are all in the same heat.

I think this means they may seed everyone together or seed by age group. I'm confused as well. I see why they'd seed by time for the 1650 and 1000 but the 500 should be by age group and time, I hope. The best race I ever saw was the 45-49 500 free final heat last year.

It specifically states 1650, 400 IM, and 1,000 seeded slowest to fastest. The 500 may be seeded slowest to fastest. (I'm not sure what they mean by this)

I believe it's slow to fastest.
