Steve West, David Guthrie, Tim Shead and Bob Strand gave me plenty of incentive to stick around, though I have so much fun swimming Masters that I had no plans on leaving anyway! You forgot Rick Colella whose 200 WR was the most impressive *** stroke swim

I do wish I had been able to swim with Steve West and Gary Marshall in the sprint breaststrokes, but I'm beating a dead horse on that topic. All you had to do was swim races 200m or longer to get true time-seeded heats!

I'm happy with all of my swims this past weekend. I swam my fastest time ever in textile in the 50 ***, a lifetime best in the 100 free and right on my Trials time in the 100 ***. :applaud: Fantastic! Those are some amazing swims coming right off of Olympic Trials. And, to go under 1:00 in the 100 backstroke on top of it, :bow:! I hope you stick around USMS; it's great having you! Thanks, Elaine! It was a lot of fun. I had no designs on getting close to Mike Ross' 100 back world record, because that was a tough time to reach. I just wanted to get under 1:00 one more time. I'm not sure how many 59-second 100 backstrokes I have left in me, but we will see... I'm happy with all of my swims this past weekend. Jeff impressed me with his fastest in the meet 50 ***. Fast reaction time although he was 0.02 faster in his hundred *** start. Timothy Shead has amazing fast start times, as fast as some of the sprinters. I am wondering is anyone is using the grab start now??? With that track assist bar it is a no brainer to go track start. I wonder if there have been any studies on using your strong side leg versus weak leg back? It might be an advantage using the strongest leg on the front of the platform.

I wonder if there have been any studies on using your strong side leg versus weak leg back? It might be an advantage using the strongest leg on the front of the platform. I myself am right handed, right footed, and do my track start with my right foot back (so my strong leg is back). I haven't tried it the other way, but I've done this so long that it's normal for me. I'm not sure if the other way is faster/slower/whatever, but the way I do it I was getting off the blocks consistently between 0.66 and 0.69 in all six events at the Canadian Masters Nats a month ago.

From what I can tell from the highlight videos, the warm-up pool looks fabulous! And, the competition pool is amazing. :agree: I hope Nationals returns to Omaha in 2016, along with Olympic Trials, so I have another chance at going! :banana: the pools are both fantastic. The clockwise current may debunk the claim of "world's fastest pool" but my enjoyment of it was not diminished. :banana:

This is an amazing facility and the warmup/warmdown pool exceeded my expectations.For those of you who couldn't come ,it is ,I think ,8 50M lanes and 6 25M lanes.2 of the 25M lanes are permanent designated sprint lanes with the blocks with the"fins" so your back leg can push off on track starts. I hate to complain about anything,but the Concession stand warrants complaint.Gold Medal Sponsorship was $175 which seemed a little steep to me so I skipped it.I don't know what food that got you,but at those prices it should be lots of Omaha steaks.I figured the concessions here would be expensive,but that we'd have good choices.What we got was a hotdog stand.After complaints they added yogurt and fruit and they already had nachos and a cheese bowl,but for the lactose intolerant among us(90% of the worlds population) our total choice of entree's was hotdogs. Hey, did anybody just see that bird drinking water out of the pool? The livestreaming camera zoomed in on this cute little bird standing at the edge of the pool, dipping his head in for some sips of water, before flying off. I hope the chlorine doesn't kill him! And, I hope he finds his way out ok... :agree: My husband and kids saw the bird too. I saw it flying around up in the stands but I think I was warming up when it was helping itself to a drink. :D

Other Forumite news: Congratulations to Ande for winning his age group and shaving .13 off his seed time. :applaud: And, to That Guy for shaving .61 off his seed time and placing 3rd. :applaud: M.I.A.: Wookiee was supposed to go up against That Guy. :badday: Wookiee, where were you? Congratulations to King Frog, aka Allen Stark, for taking almost two seconds off his seed time in the 200 butterfly. :applaud: Thanks! I don't think Wookiee was at the meet. Don't know the story there.

Great job on the 200, That Guy! Seed: 3:03.36, Final: 3:02.43. I tried to count your strokes, but the camera kept zooming in on the leader and cutting you out. :bitching: From what I could tell, your second 50 was 22 strokes and your third was 23 strokes. I could be way off; your turnover picked up as you approached the walls and it was hard to keep track when the camera didn't show you! But, if my stroke count was correct, you won't be breaking any records there for highest stroke count, because that's good! And, your pullout looked very strong and long. Way to go! :applaud: Thanks Elaine! I had a good race against the guy in the lane next to me so it was a fun 200 ***.

Hey, Jeff, I'm soooooo happy the 200s will be seeded by time and not age. Finally, I'll get to swim an event at nationals against the fastest people in the meet, many of which are not just my age group. My only 200 of the meet is the 200 IM (top seed??!!?), but I'm excited to step up and race people from all age groups. Now, what will it take to convince you to seed the 100 *** by time? Jeff, I've been watching your races on livestreaming and you are having an awesome meet! Congratulations!!:applaud: It was so great to see you do so well at Olympic Trials and continue that success at Nationals. :cheerleader: After reading about your past Olympic Trials frustrations in your book, I was really pulling for you this time around. Seeing the joy on your face (the livestreaming camera zoomed in on you and Ponce) after your mixed relay won was priceless! Congratulations on your team's WORLD RECORD! Keep having fun, Jeff! Me too! I know Patrick and I still have it penciled in! FWIW, here's what Paul Wolf reported on restaurants from Trials: "If anyone says to go to Anthony's steakhouse, don't. Go to the Longhorn on Dodge just past 72nd." Anyone who's been there for Trials have restaurant recommendations? i liked Vivace (upscale italian) and Blue Fin Sushi (or something like that), both in Old Market area. the sushi place has great happy hr deal on sushi! 12th St and Harvey?Howard?:anim_coffee: I still have it penciled in, also. I'd love to meet up with a few of you guys because it is my first Nationals and I leave for home tomorrow morning. I went to a steak and chops place last night called Spencer's. It is located right near the arena (Dodge and 10th). Pretty nice place and not too crowded for a Friday night. If there are people who don't want to have steaks, I'm happy to go to sushi or Italian or whatever!
