Yes, its "just 30 minutes" but its also just 30 minutes at the end of the day. For West Coast swimmers they are now swimming a 400 IM at 4:30 AM, their time.

102.13.3 The entry provisions and starting time of any event, meet or portion thereof shall stand as stated in the meet announcement (except as permitted in article 102.13.3) and may not be changed to an earlier time or date unless written notice of such change is delivered to all affected swimmers or their coaches. If mailed, such notice must be postmarked no later than the entry deadline date stated in the meet announcement, and if lack of time prohibits mail notification, all affected swimmers must voluntarily agree in writing that they have been notified and are in accord with such change. Affected swimmers or coaches may and should file a written protest with the referee prior to the running of the event or the meet if they do not agree to such change in time or date. In this case, they made a change, it looks like lack of time prohibits, and rather than surprise us all when we show up, they emailed everyone ahead of time to warn of the change. We'll probably have to sign something at check-in. As I see it playing out, none of this would violate any rules. If you're a 400 IM/Free swimmer and this is really going to throw your day off, I think you're in the right to protest. However at the end of the day, it's just 30 minutes, and there is plenty of warm-up space in the two warm-up/warm-down pools. If you're coming from the east coast, you're getting an extra sleep anyways!

I too would like to know how they can just change the start time. They already dropped our sixth event. This is clearly in violation of the rules. Who do we protest to?

E-mail was sent out the afternoon of the 31st. Before I forget, lemme say thanks to slowcat for noticing this and commenting. Sometimes I print out information well ahead of the meet, in which case I might have been on the wrong schedule if this forum thread wasn't started.

...I run a meet every year- thanks for the advice though. wow, snarky much??? rather than complaining about the loss of half an hour to us on the forums (most of who can't do anything about it), how about you talk to the meet director and see what the deal is? (and if you've already done that, sorry! and what scoop can you pass along???)

The missing half-hour is present after each days' 400 is over. That is going to be more crowded than the hour at the start. As I said in another thread, we're approaching 10+ hours at the pool as is. I know another half-hour doesn't really make much of a difference in the grand scheme of things, but until you run a meet yourself, you won't understand how much of a difference this really does make.

Cool, I can come in a little late on Friday based on the timeline. I am loving Thursday. Do the 400 IM and I am done by 9AM. Cool beans. Wow, the 1500 and 800 are mixed. Ok, whatever. I am just glad that I am doing the 1500 instead of the 800. So glad, I am staying til Tuesday based on when the 1500 will be done because I am probably in one of the later heats.

On the web page, it states: On competition days, the competition pool will be open for warm-ups from 6:30 a.m. until 7:20 a.m.

That's why it is an estimated timeline, and not a meet schedule. :) Any chance that the fancy blue drapes (from the Worlds qualifier meet) will still be up? :banana:

I was impressed with Flyqueen's guess as well! I wonder if she used to win those 'guess the number of gumballs' games... Mattson, I remember seeing somewhere that the timeline should be up July 25th, but since everything other than the 50s is being deck-seeded not sure how accurate it'll be?

Per the meet information; Psych sheets for all individual events will be available on the usms.org website on or about July 18, 2009. Heat sheets for pre-seeded events will be available online around July 25, 2009. Heat sheets for deck-seeded events will be posted at various places around the pool for swimmers after the check-in deadlines.
