That link is for the kids meet not the masters meet. The masters meet is apparently April 16-19, 2009 in Fort Liquordale. Nothing on the Y site, of course, that info will probably be posted sometime around the new year, but found the dates on a Y team site as a "save the date" news entry. Glider i'm with you on the Paul Smith/left coast thing. He lives in a desert state and don't know that he's complaining per se about the Clovis temps, but if he is, we're the first to call him out on potential hypocricy! That being said, I still can't blame anyone for wanting to swim at the ISHOF pool.

... I love swimming short course, but I think the nightmare of a week in that Prison Break compound might force me to skip, or to go elsewhere - Ft. Lauderdale, haven't swam there since the early 80s...

Just curious why Paul, since you live near the left coast? But now that you mention it, the Y might work better for us east coasters, too. Clovis North is very barren. I don't see trees getting put in. Everyone is just going to have to bring their own pop ups. Fresno, being an irrigated desert, will probably be in the 90's. Clovis west has a great set up, but I guess you are right, the Clovis North pool needs to showcased. Clovis East also has a nice pool, but after the Clovis East and Clovis North pools were build, I think everyone is realizing that there is more to a nice complex than giant pools. I would have liked everyone to model their complexes after Clovis West. Sunnyside is the same cement prison as Clovis North, but they only have two 25 yard pools.

Kinda too bad they couldn't get the meet done at Clovis West - though I can see them wanting to showcase the new pool Clovis Unified dropped the big $$ for. The 2009 SC Nationals will be held in the Clovis North pool complex. There is a picture of the complex at: clovisswimclub.splashcentral.com/Default.aspx

I noticed there is an open water swim in Fresno next May. Can someone tell me what day this would be on? I heard it was Sunday, but does that mean you'd need to choose between swimming pool events that day, or swimming open water? And, are they scoring the open water swim as part of the meet? Monday following the meet. Will not be scored as a part of the pool meet but will be the competition for the National OW title.

Yes, they listed the dates in the Jan-Feb 08 issue of USMS Swimmer magazine. 2009 SCY Nationals is May 7-10 at the Clovis Swim Club in Fresno, CA and the LCM Nationals is August 6-10 at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis, IN. Hope that helps! :)
