This is ridiculous. This year I couldn't go to Nationals because it was held the same weekend as my husband's commencement. So for 2008 I was getting excited it might be around the same time and I would be good to go. But, NOOO....It's being held the same weekend as MY graduate commencement (May2nd). Can't I catch a break? (Maybe I'll skip commencement.) Michelle, I know two people who skipped family graduations for this year. I didn't go to my own undergrad graduation. But it sounds like these would be a post-graduate graduation... maybe a little different. If you want to go, you'll find a way...

Great, the men's 500 is on Sunday again. :frustrated: We all should be well tapered by then - assuming you get to bed early Saturday night and don't stay up all night.

Great, the men's 500 is on Sunday again. :frustrated: Kirk, I was going to rant about that, but I figured I'd see if someone else pointed it out. Check out the rulebook, dude, we're getting royally F'd! Rant: Since I have been doing USMS Nationals' in 2004, only once have men swum before women, in 2005 at Ft. Lauderdale, where the 500 was the very first event of the meet (i consider 1000/1650 as their own meet ;) ):). 2005 & Worlds LCM both had m&w on the same day, and worlds was the last event of the swim meet. In the '07 rulebook, men get the 4/500 on the last day of the meet 7 out of the 10 nationals' listed. INCREDIBLE! Two of those are LCM. Also, women seem to always get their mid-distance event on a Saturday, except for these three afformentioned meets. Kirk, we're going to have to wait to 2008 LCM to not have to swim on the last day. And after that, until 2010 SCY. :frustrated::frustrated::frustrated::frustrated:

Don't forget about next summer's Long Course Nationals, which will be held at the recently refurbished Mt. Hood CC Pool in Oregon. Delightful place to be in the summer, and one of the finest travel destinations you'll find anywhere in the US. Savvy swimmers will plan a vacation around the event. Hope to see you there. Does anyone know if the dates for this have been set yet? And if so, when?

The dates for the SC Nationals in Austin are May 1 - 4, 2008. At the request of the USMS House of Delegates, our meet host left convention last fall, found a time farther away from the 2008 World Championships in Perth and gave us these dates. They were approved by the Championship Committee and forwarded to the Executive Committee for their approval.

The dates proposed at last year's convention for SC Nationals were April 24-27th. There was some concern about potential conflict with FINA World's in Perth, Australia. Perhaps the dates will be discussed again at this year's convention. However, it was my recollection that the Austin hosts were unable to host in May. Mary

You have been away for a while, Greg! SC Nationals witll be at UT Austin. They're a little early next year, the first weekend in May I believe.
