People enter at the last minute bacause they are not always sure they can go because of family plans, time and money. Not everyone can plan that far in advance. That's why a lot of swimmers deck enter at local meets, if they find out they can make it that day, they go. Not laziness.

Thanks Mark. Wow, why do you think so many wait until the last minute? I remember for Worlds, Michael Moore said the same thing happened. There were like 2000 entries the last week! Crazy.

Karen, I can answer from personal experience: LAZINESS!!! That, and just being sure I'm actually physically able to make it; and also to get some better idea as to what times to enter.

Entries haven't closed yet, so that decision is a ways off still. However, we haven't dropped the 6th event in meets with 1900 swimmers for Short Course, so I would predict we will keep the event. Also, as far as entries go, most Masters swimmers wait until the last four days to enter. Around 60% will enter in the last week. At this point, the meet size is just a guess.

Hugh, I'm looking forward to swimming in Federal Way again. I've entered the 500 & 1000 FR, 200 FL, 100 & 200 BR and the 400 IM. I'm hoping that we'll get to swim all six events! See you soon. -- mel Those events are my idea of hell seriously ... I'd rather not go then swim those ... and seeing as I can't make it this year ... Good for you for taking on a really tough event schedule ... can't wait to hear about all the awesome swims in a great facility!

Mollie, There are no renovations in or around the competition pools. They have added a pirate ship to the recreation pool. You can visit www.metrokc.gov/.../index.html for more information. The rec pool will be used as a warm-up/warm-down pool so will not be available to families, only to those entered in the meet. Jane Moore

The locker rooms are scheduled to be complete by April 8th. The new lockers are currently in place, but the benches aren't. so are the locker rooms the only renovations going on right now? i'm hoping this is the case, cause i think we can all manage without benches in the locker rooms if something were to push back the schedule :)

Gee Hugh, I'm having a tough time already about not going, what with missing the renowned regional cuisine of Federal Way (eat at a different fast-food restaurant 365 days a year!), fabulous nature walks along Hwy 99, but you have to taunt me with missing a new pirate ship as well. Seriously, if I wasn't 54 in yards, broke and out of shape/injured I would have loved to be there!

hugh, i see that there is some remodeling going on at the aquatic center. will it be finished before we all arrive for nationals? There's not much in the way of anything right now. Locker rooms are different (bigger) and not quite finished, but fully able to be used now. Might be totally done by the time this rolls around.
