Is it same age groups as individual events or can it be mixed? :dunno:

RE: Nationals - no 400 or 800 relays? The others on the relay can be any age. The age groups for SCY relays are 18 and over, 25 and over, 35 and over, 45 and over, 55 and over, 65 and over, 75 and over, continuing in 10 year increments.

For Meters, both short course and long course, the age groups for relays is determined by the sum of the ages of the swimmers. The age sum must fit within the range specified: 72-99, 100-119, 120-159, 160-199, 200-239, continuing in 40 year increments.

The rules regarding Age Groups are found in Article 102.3 of the USMS Rulebook which is available online:http://www.usms.org/rules/

Hope that helps.

RE: Nationals - no 400 or 800 relays? The 1997 Long Course Nationals was spread over 5 days and I believe that is the only meet in USMS Championship history to offer these relays.

The 800 and 400 relays are actually relatively new additions to the Masters rule book. There were only 200s at all for a long time. We have not added the longer relays because of the added time demands (as previously stated) to an already long meet. Perhaps the championship committee will at some point consider swapping or adding relays from year to year, but that will be in the distant future, if at all.

So, if you want to set relay records in 400 or 800 relays, taper and shave for Regionals. Cheers!

RE: Nationals - no 400 or 800 relays? We would like to do our relay at a meet where we are shaved to break a record, not at Regionals.

RE: Nationals - no 400 or 800 relays? I know that there are no recognized World Records for 400 or 800 relays, but that can't be the reason for the exclusion of these relays at our National meet. After all, there are no World Records at all for the yards format, and yet we hold a SCY National Chamionship. Just curious.
