Also it seems his breathing pattern changed from one up one down to one with each stroke.) His knee bend on his last few lengths seem to be much more pronounced. The guy in this video (Lane 3) may have taken your class last year...must wait for it... coverage.takeitlive.tv/.../29273626_bLwqFb Ouch!! It looked like he probably finished legal,but that is part of the damnable part of the 200 fly,if you die too badly you are not only in agony,you may be DQd.

Hmm.. Let's wait and see how the LCM season goes...you never know. Although I must say, I really doubt that my teammates will ask me to do the 100 fly on the medley relay again!

Glenn, if someone videoed your race, you should consider putting it up on a Pay Per View basis. You could make a fortune,human nature being what it is! who among us doesn't enjoy a good spectacle?

Gee thanks Michael, I hadn't included that in the script... For those of you who don't know, Michael Blatt is my teammate with Ventura County Masters and our wonderful, dependable anchor on the medley, 200, 400 and 800 free relays. He missed high point at the SCM meet this weekend by 1 point (won it last year though) in the 55-59 age group. Thanks on the p.s. Thought I might as well embrace this! I really have heard from many people who have gone through the same thing in some way, shape, form or another. Michael has heard this story, but my wife, who is not a swimmer but very supportive, decided to try competition with me about 30 years ago. We entered a local meet, a pentathlon, that consisted of 4 x's 50 stroke and a 100 IM. In her first event, the 50 fly, she started down the pool and got about half way when she pretty much began to stay in the same spot while trying to do the butterfly. After a few moments she said "Oh s**t, I quit" whereby she swam to the side, got out and ended her competitive swimming career. As she was watching me this past weekend on the medley relay, she really did know what I was going through. We can both laugh at it now. She of course, a little more than I.:bighug:

Ande, I can assure you it was only entertaining for the people watching... For me, it was the "entertainment from hell". As far as easy speed is concerned, that's what I told myself on the blocks before my leg and that's what I thought I was doing for 73 meters! I found out otherwise! Mainly I think I need more practice swimming this race. ekw, I must admit, even I laugh pretty hard each time I read it! Leslie, Yes, there is video taken by the daughter of our breastroker, Hubie Kerns. He hasn't gotten it to me yet, but when he does I'll post it... (I think).
