Also, it looks like most of the Sunday events are "on deck" rather than "in pool" events -- is that right? (I am thinking of going on Saturday but not Sunday).

RE: Excel Weekend 2011 - San Mateo, CA

So glad you are thinking about joining us. The GST filming is only 10-20 minutes long. We will have sign up slots where you can pick your time. Those sign ups should be available toward the end of May. we are going to have them operational from 9-5 Sat and from 8-noon Sunday, so you should be able to lock in a spot that doesn't impact the other swim stations.

Sunday is pool and deck work. We are super excited that Coach Dave Durden, head coach of the NCAA Men's Champs, Cal Bears, will be joining us and will run the Advanced Techniques component. So Sunday morning we start with an open water session for all, then Advanced Techniques, then either concurrently or separately, the dry land options presented by Coach Hermine Terhorst (Pilates & Core) and Coach Peter Finney (Boot Camp for Swimmers).

Come join us if you can, you won't regret it!

RE: Excel Weekend 2011 - San Mateo, CA

Here is an update on our Excel Weekend clinic.

Our Open Water Session will now be held at the pool instead of at Half Moon Bay. There were a variety of compelling reasons. Not to worry though, we will give you an experience at the pool that will help you: improve your sighting in the open water; better manage pack swimming; learn how to get the most speed out of cornering buoys; find the nutritional balance you need to sustain you through your open water swim; and more! The Open Water session will be coached by Coach Scott Williams, Lucas Valley Aquatic Masters, and Coach Joel Wilson, Santa Cruz Masters. Both are seasoned open water swimmers themselves and have a lot of experience coaching others in open water swims. Not to mention, they are award winning coaches!

We've got Finis, TYR, Swim Outlet, Chammyz, TruWest, Sports Basement, AquaVolo, Tropical Penguin, Fit 2 Race, Ying Fa, Jamba Juice, Illusions Swim Wear, Q Swimwear, and Tracy Barbutes Photography as sponsors and/or raffle prize donors. Still looking for more so Blue Seventy, Speedo and all you other USMS sponsors, if you are out there, we want you!

Our event hotel, the San Mateo Marriott SFO, is giving us a great deal - $99 a night plus free parking ($20 value) if you book your room before May 19th. Go to our website to link to the hotel for this deal.

RE: Excel Weekend 2011 - San Mateo, CA

Yea Karen!
