Hopefully the results will have splits when posted. They didn't have splits at the meet. I managed to drop about :20 on the 1500 and I'd like to see where I started slowing down in this latest race compared to the prior one.

I took a lot of pictures. I still don't have my camera settings figured out, and just discovered that I got high resolution (2048x1536) in 'auto' mode, but I took a lot of pictures using shutter priority mode, and forgot that it had been set to a measly 640x480 in that mode. Anyway here are a few pictures. I don't want to post any recognizable pictures of people without their permission. I had to shrink them for uploading here.

Anyone know whether results will be available online during the meet? My team has a couple of swimmers down there I'd like to keep track of. I'm not sure when the results will be up, but I think I ran into two of your swimmers (two ladies, 40s or 50s) and they did well.

Heads up...we may jot be entirely "out of the woods"....it appears there is may be a 5k race going on in Tempe Sunday morning....not an issue as far as parking necessarily but may pose some challenges getting to the pool.

Parking probably will be bad on Saturday as well. If I read the ASU football schedule correctly, the undefeated Sun Devils are playing at home on Saturday with a start time of 6 p.m. We're thinking about getting a taxi from the hotel instead of driving. Might even be close to gridlock on the streets near the pool/stadium. On the other hand, maybe we'll just spend the afternoon at the pool watching the ASU meet and beat the rush. Shade won't be a problem on Fri-Sat since they are night sessions. You'll only need to get cover on Sun late in the a.m.

I just bought my ticket. I'm in the 50, 100, 200, 400, 1500 free, 50 fly,50 back, 50 ***, and 100 IM. What's the parking situation like there on the ASU campus? Edit: one more question, at my last meet I saw some smart people brought folding camping chairs with them. After sitting on bleachers all day I appreciate why that's a good idea. Are they going to care if people bring their own deck chairs or do they want to keep the area uncluttered?

Parking usually sucks on Friday (may have to pay). Usually on Sat/Sun no problems (unless a football game--then see Friday). Chairs are OK, plenty of deck space.

Limited shade on deck....its been record breaking temps this week (96 last two days) so bring a pop up if you have one....supposed to cool to mid-80's by next weekend.

Right now, I don't know how many people have signed-up for the meet but the size has varied over the years. It was at about 230 a few years back but has dropped down to around 100 for the last couple of years. Word 'round the campfire is that Michael Collins is bringing the NOVA team from SoCal to support this meet. Plus, we will probably get several folks from San Diego at this meet as well. I would not expect a huge meet but this year it will probably be in the 150-180 range. That is a guess on my part though...

OK, Paul, you've humbled me. Due to changing circumstances, Grace & I will be at the ASU meet. I'm signing up for the 200 BR and 200 FL. Are you, or are you going to do a total of about 200 for the whole meet?

I was just at my first masters meet yesterday, and intentionally didn't register for back-to-back events, and I'm glad I didn't. The heats were mixed and there was almost no time between events. For this Arizona meet, how many people show up, and are heats mixed or separate for men and women? I want to get an idea how much time there would be between events if I were considering back-to-back events like the 200 free and 200IM. edit: I see the answer to one of my questions right on the entry form, events will be pre-seeded men & women together, slowest to fastest.

Mel....step up man...your swimming for AZ now so support the "home team" a bit! All right, Mr Smith the Elder, now you've done it. Now you've really got me mad. I'll remind you of this discussion next spring, before Austin, when Grace & I are swimming for AZ and you are swimming for West Nomadic State University, where they have promised you a pair of red sox to swim for their beat up old relay team of ex fraternity brothers. We'll see who swims for the old 'home team' in Austin.....

For those worrying about having to swim Saturday afternoon and then get up Sunday to swim again ... get over it. You'll get plenty of rest. It just means you might not be able to have that fifth beer at the Saturday dinner. Great for you Jeff since you're in the neighborhood, but when you have to pay $500+ for two airline tickets it definitely makes a difference. I'm going somewhere else... By the way, it's not Saturday afternoon, it's Saturday evening (5 p.m. start, with the 200 BR the last event). It's not swimming again Sunday that's the problem. I've lived in AZ enough to know that it can be really cold that time of year after the sun sets. The last time I swam there (two years ago), it was dang cold even in the middle of the day. I don't believe you were there for that meet. No, I won't get over it, I'll just wait until it's at a more reasonable time for those of us who come from CO. But, thanks for the encouragement.
